L. Trotta, Pastor St. 1 CENTER MORELAND METHODIST. THE DALLAS POST, THURSDAY, MARCH 28, 1963 Monroe Baptist Church parson- age is now sheltering a full time pastor and his family at Beaumont. During the week when the move was made from the parsonage at Falls, where Rev. Lyle Peterson had been dividing his ministerial serv- ices between Falls and Beaumont, women of the Monroe Baptist Church saw to it that the family had hot food, and men of the con- gregation put the finishing touches to the remodelled building. During the weeks before the move, partitions were relocated and a chimney was built outside to serv- ice a fireplace for the living room. Quarters for the Peterson family at first were difficult to find close to the church, but the former Meeker store became available, and lent itself to remodelling. The new parsonage, located ‘within a stone's throw of the church, has three bed- rooms, a nice sized living room, a dining area, and a kitchen, All rooms are on one floor, with an oil furance located ‘in a utility room which also accommodates laundry equipment. Elwood Martin, who in October moved into a newly acquired farm home and has been clearing out an old apple orchard, promises apple logs for the fireplace. Rev. Peterson has been pastor since the spring of 1961, succeed- ing Rev. Truman Reeves, who now gives his entire time to the Center Moreland Baptist Church. The fifteen mile trip between Falls and Beaumont proved imprac- tical for Rev. Peterson, who found it impossible to attend Sunday School services in either church. He considers the young people the heart of the church, felt deprived when unable to keep in close en- ough touch with them. He and his wife are young people Fred N. Stout Dies At Carverton Home Fred N. Stout, 90, Carverton, died at his home last Saturday evening. Born at Mountain Top, December 13, 1872, he was the son of the late Amson C. and Margaret Tripp Stout. He had resided for many years in the Forty-Fort area being associated with Forty-Fort Cemetery Associa- tion for 29 years, before moving to Carverton. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Schweitzer; a brother, Jay, Forty-Fort; also several nieces and nephews. Funeral was held Tuesday after- noon from the home with, Rev. Wil- liam Reid officiating. Interment was in Forty-Fort Cemetery. .Johnson City. “Any Field Is A Mission Field” Says Minister Of Monroe Baptist Church with three small children, Mary, 7; Brenda, 6; and Ricky, 5. Mary is at the Beaumont school, in Mrs. Parrish’s first grade, where she transferred a few weeks ago from the larger first grade class at Falls, and is enjoying herself very much. Since getting her new glasses, she | is making rapid strides in reading. The young couple, both interest- ed in missionary work, and with an eye for a time on a post in Morocco, met at a National Convention of Youth for Christ in Liverpool ten years ago. Two years later, the former Elsie McCormick of Belfast, Ireland, came to this country to become the bride of Rev. Peterson. In 1959, Rev. Peterson graduated from the Baptist Bible Seminary in During his student days, he was director of youth at Park Avenue Baptist Church in Binghamton, adding to his salary by operating a Laundro-mat. Mrs. Peterson attended the Bible School in Liverpool after graduating from local schools in Ireland. Rev. Peterson had enlisted in the Navy in 1949, serving four years as a weatherman, based in Rabat, North Morocco. After meeting his future wife in Liverpool, he made plans for marriage, hopeful of a career as a missionary. “It is just as important,” he says reflectively, ' “to minister to the people at home. Any field is a mission field.” Beaumont is extending a warm | welcome to the Petersons, and the Petersons feel completely at home in Beaumont. There is a. sunny knoll behind the house where Rev. Peterson plans to grow his favorite species of tomatoes, along with a few other garden vegetables. “But probably no chickens,” he added. Herbert H.
