Mrs. Michael Maransy, vice president
residing for Mrs. Cletus Holcomb,
Jr. who was ill. Several new mem-
bers were welcomed. Plans were
made for a covered dish supper at
~ the hall, March 7 at six pm. for
members and their families. A nom-
inating committee was appointed to
present a slate of officers for elec-
tion. Serving in this capacity are
Mesdames Delbert Meade, John
Lukavitch and Virgil Mattice. Any
‘woman over eighteen is eligible for
“membership in this organization.

week with another attadk of tonsil-
itus.

“bunches” and the Mahoney famil-
ies of Mooretown have had it last
week. Barton Clemmow, 9, son of
the Dennis Mahoneys has returned
from Wilkes-Barre General Hospital,
where he received treatment for in-
juries when he fell on the ice. X-rays
revealed no fractures, but the ten-
don of his ring finger, left hand,
was cut. Five-year-old Becky,
‘Wilson
Mahoney sustained a laceration of
the face which required six stitches,
when she accidently pulled down a
venetian shade at her home. Becky's
brother Robert, a student at Lake-
Lehman, developed blood poiscning,
the result of stepping on a rusty
nail. He is confined to his home.

Mrs. Howard Post was honored at
a birthday dinner-party February
16, at the home of her brother-in-
law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Guy
Lynn, Berwick. Cake was baked and
decorated by Mrs. Lynn. Attending
were Howard Post, sons, Henry and
Brent; Jeffrey and Dianne Lynn;
Mrs. Bonnie Youlls. The honoree’s
parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Kibler
were unable to attend. Mrs. Kibler
recently returned to her home from
Geisinger Medical Center.
Lawrence Smith, Main Road, Pikes
Creek, suffered a heart attack, Fri-
day, February 22, while working
near Meshoppen, employed on road
construction. He was removed to an
area hospital, and was responding
to treatment at the time of this
writing. With him were his wife
and sisters, Mrs. Louise Shaw and
Mrs. Rena Adams. The Smith's
daughter, Donna Marie Freed, pre-
sented them with a granddaughter,
Kelly, February 20.
Harveys Lake
Finance Committee of the :Alder-
son Church met with Mrs. Helen
Hartman Monday evening. The
budget for the year was made. Pres-
ent were: William Kelley, Raymond
Garinger, Walbridge Leinthall,
Eleanor Humphrey, Mrs. Garvin
Smith, Mrs. Albert Armitage, and
Mrs. Hartman.
World Day of Prayer for Alder-
son-Noxen Charge will be held in
the Alderson Methodist Church on
Friday night, March 1 at 8:00. Mrs.
Theodore Heness has charge.
Due to bad weather, W.S.C.S.
meeting at Alderson was cancelled.
A meeting will be held March 14.
Mrs. Milton Evans of Greenbelt,
Maryland spent the weekend with
her mother, Mrs. Ida Rogers, and
Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Heness at
Sandy Beach.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Higgins
celebrated their 40th. wedding an-
niversity February 10. On Sunday
the 17th. they had open house and
45 relatives and friends came ‘to call.
It was also Mr. Higgins’ birthday
on Saturday. They have one daugh-
ter, Mrs. Naomi Shepperson and
grand-daughter Peggy of Danville.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Armitage an-
nounce the ‘birth of their first
grandchild, a daughter Brenda Kim,
born to Mr. and Mrs. Orin R.
Breckerman. Mrs. Breckerman is the
former Jessie Armitage R. N. The
proud grandfather is a meat cutter
at Daring’s Market.
Mrs. Francis Keller entertained on
Valentines Day for little Janice who
was three years old. On Saturday
night Mrs. Keller had a party for
her daughter Debbie, who was 16 on
Friday.

Mrs. Alice Zick has returned from
Cleveland Heights, Ohio, after visit-
ing her daughter and son-in-law and

Ewing, N. J., spent the weekend
visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Albert Smith and Mr. and Mrs.

Police chief Robert Cooper reports
that Huntsville-Chase Road has re-
mained clear of the. vicious ice
build-up ordered: removed from in
front of the Arthur A. Houck resi-
dence by Board of Supervisors early
this month.
The chief further warns of the
state dog catcher, who is collecting
stray and unlicensed dogs in the
township.
Mrs. Alfred Ackerman, Smith's
Pond, Lehman Township, reports
that the Lehman and Jackson Town-
ship snow-plows, both of which turn
around in her borderline drive-way

Michael Slimak, Huntsville Road,
is improving following recent illness.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Laskowski
visited their son-in-law and daugh-

Buck Hill Falls, Sunday, and brought
home their daughter, Maryann, who
had been visiting the Yuricks for
several days.
Mrs. Corey Major, Huntsville Road,
is in Nesbitt Hospital, where she
entered Saturday for tests.
Judith Young, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Thomas Gimble, Chase Manor,
spent the weekend with Machelle
Klem, Huntsville.
A local team member, who prefers
to remain anonymous for modesty’s
sake, notes that three Jackson bowl-
ing teams, A, B, and C, are doing
very well in Monday night firemen’s
league competition.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Seward,
Noxen, R. F. D. announce the birth
of a son in Nesbitt Hospital, on
February 21st. Mrs. Seward is the
former Erma Sickler. This is their
first child, also the first grand child
in the Seward family.
Cindy Goble, - little daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Goble, is very
ill with the “flu”.

3rd. birthday of their grandson, Ed-

Mike Bean left on Thursday to be
with the army at Fort Knox,
Kentucky for his basic training. He
expects to be at Norfolk, Va. to at-
tend helicopter school after his basic
training period.
