Mr. and Mrs. George Haines had
as guests last Sunday, Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph Kudark, Derby, Conn.. The
two families were neighbors when
living in Kingston. Mrs. Haines spent
last Monday as a patient at Geising-
er Hospital.
Sweet Valley Volunteer Firemen
will meet tonight at eight o'clock
at the Fire Hall,
Committee of Cub Pack 444 will
meet Wednesday February 20, at the
home of Pastor and Mrs. William
G. Hughes. Members are urged to
attend as this will be the final meet-
ing hefore the Blue and Gold Ban-
quet, which will be held at the
Maple Grove Methodist Church hall,
February 28th.
Mr. and Mrs. William E. Smith
and daughter, Wendy Elaine, motor-
ed to Philadelphia last Sunday
where they visited with Mr. and
Mrs. William Long.
Weekend guests at the Albert
Smith home were Mr. and Mrs. Will-
ard Bonning, Jim, Gary, Ricky, and
Janice, Caton, New York; Mr. and
Mrs. Bob Smith, Ewing, N.J.; Walter
Bonning, Philadelphia. The follow-
ing were guests on Sunday, Mrs.
Corey Bulford, Mrs. Alfred Davis
and daughter, Cindy, Pikes Creek;
Mrs. Thomas Van Horn and son,
Edward, Dallas. Albert ‘Smith ob-
served his birthday February 6.
Third Order of St. Francis, Our
Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, will
receive communion in a body at
nine o'clock mass, Sunday, Febru-
ary 17. A meeting will be held that
afternoon at 2:30 at the rectory.
Members are urged to attend as
plans will be made for the annual
dinner and bake sale. Officers of the
organization are Mrs. Michael Mar-
ansky, president; secretary, Mrs.
Verna Lasco; treasurer, Mrs. Frank
Young. Father S. F. Banas, pastor of
the church is moderator.
Lake Silkworth Volunteer Fire-
men will hold their monthly meet-
ing at the fire hall, Monday evening
February 18, William Samuels pre-
siding.
Linda Gosart, recently chosen
“Miss Senior” of’ Lake Lehman High
School is observing her eighteenth
birthday today.
Two year old Jeffrey Cragle, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cragle,
Mooretown, has returned to his
home after being a patient at Gen-
eral Hospital, but is still on the sick
list, suffering from a virus infection
and bronchitis at present.
The Young Adult Class of Maple
Grove Methodist Church will hold
their monthly meeting tomorrow
evening, February 15, at the church
hall. Members are urged to attend
this meeting. Election of officers
will] take place.
Sincere sympathy is extended to
the family of James Steinruck, Sr.,
who was buried this week. The fath-
er of ten children, thirty-two grand-
children and several great-grand-
children. The deceased and his wife
observed their golden anniversary
December 27, 1961.
Cub Pack 444 met last week at
Church of Christ, Burl Updyke,
Cubmaster, presiding. Due to ill
health, Mrs. George Haines resigned
as Den 2 Mother. Mrs. Ann [Spencer
will assume her duties with meet-
ing held Thursday, February 28, at
Maple Grove Church hall, highlight
of which will be a magician.
At the meeting all dens entertain-
ed with skits. Awards were made
as | follows: Joseph Zapotoski, wolf,
1 gold and 3 silver arrows; Danny
Williams, Bear book and 1 silver
arrow; Jimmie Yoder, to Lion rank;
Timmie Garrahan to Bear rank; Jon-
athan Perkins, 1 gold arrow; Bing
Wolfe and Douglas Young have
completed the requirements of the
Lion’s book and were accepted into
the Webelos Den. Bing was award-
ed one gold and one silver arrow
point and Dougie, one gold and two
silver arrow points.
Completing achievements for the
Webelos were George Haines, Jr.,
and Dennis Owens, now ready for
boy scouting. Special recruiter strips
were awarded to Merwin and Allan
Updyke, Randy Kevin Ray, Danny
Williams and David Haines, and due
to their efforts, Pack 444 received
the A-OK unit badge for new re-
cruits.
Scott Spencer, son of Mrs. Ann
Spencer and Jan Long, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Charles H. Long, were in-
vested into the Pack.
Edward Faust, Mooretown, is va-
cationing in St. Petersburg, Fla.

where he had been guest of his
daughter. :
Mrs. Lewis Trotta has returned to
her home in Mooretown after being
a patient two weeks at General Hos-
pital, where she submitted to sur-
gery.
Mr. and Mrs. Simon Long, Moore-
town, had as week-end guests, their
son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and
Mrs. David Blaine, Newark, N. J.
Sunday guests included Mrs. Paul
Scott, Dallas and Mrs. Fred Long,
Rhorsburg.
Mr. and Mrs. John Gill and son
John, Jr., West Wyoming, were
week-end guests of the latter’s par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence New-
berry, Sr. Pikes Creek.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Perkins had
as guests last week-end, Mr. and
Mrs. William Crossley and daughter,
Connie, Croydon. Also spending the
Valley
week-end at Hills of Hope, was Pat
Perkins, Student Nurse at General
Hospital.
Bill Weber, Glen Cove, New York,
spent last week-end with his par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Weber.
Dean and Janice Bronson, son and
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred
Bronson, recently spent their mid
semester vacations with their par-
ents. Dean is a student at Shep-
herd College, Shepherdsville, Va.,
Janice, who is doing graduate work
at Columbia University, enjoyed a
week-end of skiing in Vermont last
week.
Shelly Lord, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Stephen Lord, Pikes Creek, was
confined to his home last week with
flu.
Mrs. William G&G. Hughes enter-
tained several neighborhood friends
at a party at her home last Wednes-
day. Games were played and re-
freshments served to Mesdames

Frank Foss, Wilbur Shaw, Edith
Mazonkey, William Ferrey, Paul
Farver, Sheridan Lewis, Florence
Turner, Delbert Hartman and Carl

Mrs. Donald Wesley and infant
daughter, Donna Jean, have re-
turned from Nesbitt Hospital, where
the newcomer was born, February 2.
Mrs. Phil Witkoski, Forrest Hills,
her daughter, Mrs. John Bush,
Conyngham, John Pall, Jr. and
Dorothy Lonie spent last Saturday
at Hershey where they attended the
Ice Capades.
We are happy to report that two
year old Jeffrey Cragle, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Cragie, Mooretown,
has recovered from his recent ill-
ness. Jeffrey was a patient at Gen-
eral Hospital.
Mrs. Freida Graham, Lake Silk-
worth, is a patient at Nesbitt Hos-
pital where she is recovering nicely
from pneumonia.
Mr. and Mrs. James Steinruck and
children, Bobby, Ronnie, Rex, Gail
and Gloria Trenton, N. J. have re-
turned to their home after being
called here by the death of Mr.
Steinruck’s father, James Steinruck,
Sr. and Mrs. ‘Steinruck’s sister, a
resident of Berwick. Both the de-
ceased were buried February 5.
Mrs. Joseph James, Nevel Road,
is spending some time with her son
and family, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph
James, Jr. Manchester, New Hamp-
shire.
Mr. and Mrs. Arden Hunter and
children Francis and Linda, former
local residents who are now residing
in Towson, Md. spent several days
last week as guests of the former's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Luther
Hunter.

Drexel, Philadelphia, recently visited
his parents Mr. and Mrs. Ed Oncay,
Sr.
Morton Connelly, Outlet Road,
was admitted to Nesbitt Memorial
Hospital, Friday.
Mrs. Wesley Moore, entertained
members of the Friendship Class of
Lehman Methodist Church. Assist-
ant hostesses were: Mrs. Alice Els-
ton and Mrs. Albert Ide. Plans are
being made for the Annual Easter
Sunrise Service.
Mrs. Willard ‘Garey recently at-
tended the American Alumni Coun-
cil at Mt. Pocono Inn.
Mr. and Mrs. Russell Coolbaugh
entertained Mr. and Mrs. Morton
Bennett and family, Succasunna,
New Jersey, Mr. and Mrs. George
Taylor Jr., Forty Fort, and Mr. and
Mrs. Ronald Swartz and Son, Long
Island, New York during the week-

A birthday dinner and theater
party was given in honor of Andrey
Hunt by her aunt and uncle Mr. and
Mrs. Stuart P. Marks. Guests were:

W.S.C.S. of Lehman Methodist
Church will sponsor a Hat Show at
Lehman Fire Hall Thursday Febru-
ary 28. It will be held from 2 to
5 and 7 to 9 pm. Tickets are
available by contacting Mrs. H. A.
Brown, Lehman.
Mrs. Barbara Simms has been
admitted to General Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Myron Baker enter-
tained Mr. and Mrs. Harry Baker,

Mr. and Mrs. Stuart P. Marks
entertained Elder Jack Weyland and
Elder Eldon Quinn from the Mor-
mop Church, Monday. Present for
the showing of a filmstrip and dis-
cussion of the Mormon youth

The Community Fish Dinner given
by the Ladies’ Auxiliary of Lehman
Fire Company was a huge success.

Hendrick B. Cease, father of
School Director Vernon Cease suf-
fered fracture of two discs in his
back in a fall at his home several
weeks ago. X-rays at Nesbitt Hos-
pital Saturday revealed the frac-
tures and Mr. Cease will be obliged
to wear a special made brace for
sometime. Mr. Cease 1s now in his
85th year and has ‘been enjoying
fairly good health. ?
Mickey Witek, Chase Manor, for-
mer big league infielder for the New
York Giants and Yankees was
guest speaker at a meeting of the
Blue and Gold Club of West Side
Central Catholic School, O’Connell’s
Kingston House Monday night. His
son Mickey, Jr. is a member of the
West Central basketball team.
Mrs. Fred Gable who celebrated
her birthday January 24, was very
much surprised when a group of
friends, 'braving a heavy snowstorm,
knocked on her door Sunday eve-
ning, February 3 and bearing a
lighted birthday cake and singing
“Happy Birthday’, really caught her
Mrs. Gabel said this was her first
surprise party and she really en-
joyed' it.

Tax Collector Louis Wilcox is still
convalescing at home after his re-
cent ‘black-out attack’. His mother-
in-law, Mrs. ‘Sarah Pealer suffered
a severe asthmatic attack this past
week but is somewhat improved.

family were guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Gabel Sunday.
Chief Warrant Officer and Mrs.
Robert Gallagher and chiidren Jann,
Betsy and Robert, Jr. were guests

week. The Gallaghers bave just re-,
turned from Germany where they
had been stationed in Frankfurt for
the past 3-', years. A cousin of
Mrs. Wilcox, Gallagher is a career
man with the army and will be sta-
tioned at Army Barracks, Tappan,
New York.
Lambing Season is on in full sway
at the Fred Gabel farm with over
twenty lambs born last week,
eleven of them during a day and
one-half period. This is only half
of the crop they expect. Thus far
two calves have been born with
more due. Mr. Gabel is slaughtering
some of his prize Black Angus cat-
tle and anyone wanting beef for
their Easter dinner should contact
the Gabels’ as soon as possible.

S.P. 4 Robert Rogers stationed
for two years with the U. S. Army
in Germany will leave on February
23 for home. He expects to arrive
early in March. He is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Rogers, Maple
[Street and is married to the former
Sharon DeRemer of Dallas.
