Mrs. Bertha Anderson Observes
Ninetieth Birthday At Dinner
Mrs. Bertha Anderson, Ferguson
Avenue, Shavertown, will observe
her nimetieth birthday on Sunday,
January 20.
The nonagenarian amd her sister,
Ruth Lamoreux, with whom she
resides, will return to the family
homestead at Huntsville where she
was born to observe her anniver-
sary.
They will be the guests of their
brother, George E. Lamoreux, at
dinner. It will be prepared by his
daughter and niece, Mrs. Leonard
Derby, who resides across the way
from her dad. The Derbys will also
be guests.
Mrs. Anderson is the former Ber-
‘tha Lamoreux, daughter of the late
Elmer B. and Mary Etta Neely Lam-
oreux, Huntsville,
She is a graduate of Bloomsburg
State Teachers College and taught
in both Pennsylvania and Washing-
ton. She moved West with her
husband, the late Albert Anderson,
where she lived in Medford, Ore-
gon, and Bridgeport, Washington,
for a total of fortyfive years.
She returned to this area a dec-
ade ago and became active in Nes-
bitt Hospital Auxiliary, Back Moun-
tain Branch, and WSCS, Shaver-
town Methodist Church. Her capa-
bilities as teacher made her a nat-
ural leader in devotional presenta-
tion of the Bible to the Womens’
group. .
As for hobbies, she is an enthus-
iastic gardener and loves all variety
of plants and flowers.
She is an expert needlewoman,
crocheting, knitting, sewing, and
mending, being a part of her daily
routine. A lovely afghan, banquet
cloth and Mexican drawn work are
among the handiwork she treasures.
For relaxation she spends a great
deal of time reading the Dallas Post.
Wilkes-Barre Record, Life Maga-
zine and Reader’s Digest, but the
Bible lies always nearby.
She is in excellent health for her
years and does not retire early,
but she quite frequently sits up
to see the “Tonight” show in its
entirety.
Until this year, it was her cus-
tom to entertain her many cousins
at a birthday dinner.
Mrs. Anderson is most proud of
the fact that of the six children
born to her parents, all are alive
and in good health. This she at-
tributes ‘to clean living.
Besides her sister, Ruth, Shaver-
town, there is another sister, Mrs.
Louise - M. Richards, Weston, W.
Va.; three brothers, George E.,
Huntsville; A. O. Lamoreux, and
C. B. Lamoreux, both of Bridgeport,
Washington. Mrs. Richards made
a trip in October to visit with her
sisters.
She will be at home to her friends
and relatives on Monday and Tues-
day.
A very gracious and much loved
lady, she is much sought after and
numbers her friends in this area
in the hundreds.
The Dallas Post "joins in wishing
Mrs. Anderson a very happy anni-
versary and many more years of
continued good health. g
