Twice now I have been exposed | to chess! = Years ago I played a little, forgot all I knew. But de- cided it would be a good thing for a retired man to learn to play again. My friend Ralph Weatherly had loaned me a'book on the game but I hadn't dared try to play. But Tommy Marcy whose parents and grandparents I used to know when I was pastor here, has taken up the game and’ wanted someone easy to beat to play with. So I said, “You come and teach me while you are beating me.” Which he did. 9 But I got him interested in a piece | of my woodcarving and while he was studying on that I beat him at one game! If his mind had been on the game I couldn't have done it. When I get around to playing Mr. Weatherly I'll get him into a theological discussion and maybe Ill not get checkmated quite so quickly!
