STUD SERVICE, purebred French
Wild turkey hunters in the Back
Mountain and certain other regions
may continue. to fire away until
November 24, according to Penn-
sylvania Game ‘Commission.
In most of Pennsylvania, however,
the season closes Saturday, at 5
p.m. This shorter season is aimed
at maintaining wild turkey popula-
tions in areas of limited and more
accessible range.
Of primary interest to area
hunters are the regions of Luzerne
County north of the Susquehanna
River, and, in Wyoming County,
those west of it. The northern sec-
tion of Columbia County will also
be open.
Northern Luzerne and western
Wyoming Counties are in what is
known as the northcentral region
“prime turkey range,” having a
longer season because the range is
less accessible and more extensive.
The Commission announced Mon-
day that there are still thousands
of birds roaming the Pennsylvania
forests, ‘and reckons the statewide
turkey population to be as good, if
not better than last year.

Something extra-special awaits
members of the Wyoming Historical
and ‘Geological Society on the eve-
ning of November 27th!
Through the generosity of the
Boston Store, their new TIMOTHY
PICKERING ROOM will be placed
at’ the disposal of members and

There will be an exclusive pre-
view of Lyman Howe's rare film,

with a lively narration by Ralph
Hazeltine of Trucksville and an in-
imitable introductory lecture,
“Wilkes-Barre's Glorious ‘Celebra-
tion,” by Professor Leroy Bugbee.
A lavish buffet supper is being
prepared: all one can eat for $1.25

As if this prospect were not splendid
enough, the Boston Store—‘‘consci~
