Mrs. Elmer Haring, Beaumont, is
feeling much better after being con-
fined to her home with a severe in-
fection for two weeks.
Betty Ransom, Center Hill Road,
phoned the Post last week and said
she had just picked a bouquet of
purple violets and pansies in her
yard. Bill Baker brought roses and
Easter lilies in the shop on Friday.
Spring has came!
Mr. and Mrs. Michael Loke, Spring
Garden Street, Trucksville, have an-
nounced the birth of a baby girl at
Mercy Hospital on October 18.
Mrs. Harry Ide, Tdetown, who suf-
fered a heart attack recently and
spent three weeks in Nesbitt Hos-
pital, is recuperating at the home
of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Alden Wagner Jr., Holt-
wood, Pa.
Mr. and Mrs. Philip White, newly-
wed@ are spending their honeymoon
at ami Beach, Fla: They flew
down. Mrs. White “is the former
Faith Elaine Edwards, Trucksville.
Don Anesi, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Lewis Anesi, Oak Hill, spent the past |
weekend at home. Don is enrolled
at Williamsport Technical School.
IMda Swelgin, a Freshman at
Lock Haven State Teachers College
spent last weekend at her home. She
is daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred
Swelgin, Brair Crest Road, Idetown.
Bill Williams, Idetown, enrolled
at Shepherd College, Shepherdsville,
Va., had as guests last week, his par-
ents and Joan Darby, Idetown.
' Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Swire and
daughters, Noxen, had as weekend
guests Mr. and Mrs. Dale Christian
and family, also Donald LaBarr of
Stroudsburg. Sunday evening visi-
tors were Mr. and Mrs:—Thomas-R:

Mrs. Isaac Swire returned to work
at Natona Mills on Monday, after a
five-weeks absence due to illness.

of Sutton Creek Road are surgical
patients at Geisinger Medical Center.
Myra Carlin, Martz Road, is on
privgje duty at Nesbitt Hospital.
Gwenn Weaver spent the week-
end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
H. R. Weaver of Sutton Road, re-
turning by plane to Boston, where
she is a freshman at Wheelock Col-
lege. :
A double birthday party for Jan-
jce and Dean Bronson was given by
their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred
Bronson of Sweet Valley Friday eve-
ning. Janice returned to Columbia
University, and Dean to Shephers-
town University on Sunday.
Edward Piper, staunch supporter
of Sweet Valley Fire Company suf-
fered a heart attack early Sunday
morning. By Monday, he was re-
ported free of pain at Nesbitt Hos-
pital.
. Herbert Britt, Pikes Creek bar-
berQvho was stricken with a heart
attack two weeks ago and rushed ‘to
Nesbitt Hospital by ambulance, is
reported resting comfortably.
Me and Mrs. Charles Quoss, for-
mer residents of Sweet Valley, now
of Hartford, Conn. were weekend
guests of Mrs. Elizabeth Quoss,
Sweet Valley.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bodycomb
Jr., Union, N.J. spent the weekend
with Mrs. Robert Bodycomb Sr.,
Main Road, Dallas.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph F. Kubasti,
Demunds Road, have announced the
birth of a son, Michael Joseph at
General Hospital on October -17:

A bridal shower was held on

Mrs. Claudine Daily, Loyalville in
honor of her granddaughter Clau-

Leaves For Europe
Mr. and Mrs. Alva Eggleston, Ver-
non, will leave Friday by jet airliner
for a tour of Europe. They will be
entertained at a party at Hotel Taft,
New York City before departure, Mr.
and Mrs. M. H. Farbes, Haverford,
and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ruecking,
Chicago will accompany them.

Celebrate Birthdays
John Kipp, Blytheburn, and grand-
son, Gerard Kipp, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph G. Kipp, Sweet Valley, were
honored with a family dinner party
October 16, in observance of their
birthdays. Gerard is a member of the
eighth grade, Gate of Heaven School,
and Boy Scout Troop 444, Sweet-Val-
ley. Attending were Mr. and Mrs.
Conrad Opplinger and children, John,
Mark, David, William, Mary and Lin-
da, Blytheburn; Mrs. John Kipp; Mr.
and Mrs. Joseph Kipp, Cynthia and
Nicky, and the honorees. Both the
John Kipps and the Opplinger family
are former residents of Sweet Valley.
Fergusons Are Home
Mr. and Mrs. R. Stewart Fergu-
son, New Goss Manor, have re-
turned after visiting their son
Robert and family at Ingomar, Pa.
and Mr. and Mrs. Edelon at Grosse
Point, Michigan. Two highlights of
their trip were a tour of the SAP-
SUCKER WOODS (a Bird Sanctu-
ary) at Cornell University and a
trip with the Bird Club of Detroit
to Canada where they witnessed the
banding of many birds.

Noxen, have announced the birth of
a son at General Hospital on Octo-
ber 13. y
Mr. and Mrs. Norton Newberry
and twins, Betty and Bob, Abingdon,
Md., have returned home, after
spending last week with Mrs. New-
berry’s mother, Mrs. Ethel Honey-
well, Shavertown.
Mr. Fred Jennings has returned
to his home on Norton Ave., after
being a patient in the General Hos-
pial, for several days.
Mrs. Anna Kocher, Franklin St.,
has been ill at her home.
Mrs. Laura La Bar, Main St., was
admitted to the Nesbitt Memorial
Hospital, Sunday evening, for tests
and observation. ;
Mr. Harold Schooley, Davenport
St., -was admitted to the General
Hospital, Sunday afternoon, for tests
and observation.
Mr. and Mrs. G. Robert Lewis and
Mrs. Helen Stradling, Honey Brook,
recently spent the day with’ former
neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. ‘Charles
Hogsler, Parrish St.
M. and Mrs. Frank Roese, Betsy
Sue, Franklin and Ronald, Cleve-
land, Ohio, flew in over the weekend
to visit their respective parents. Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Ide, Huntsville are
the parents of Mrs. Roese and Mr.
and Mrs. Forrest Roese, proprietors
of the Scandinavia Motel, Sweet
Valley, are the parents of Mr. Roese.

Janice Rinken, daughter of Mrs.
Vivian Rinken and the late Alex-
ander Rinken, Idetown, received
word from the State Board of
Nursing Education on October 3
that she had successfully passed Ler
state board exams and is now a
registered nurse.
Janice, a graduate of Lake-Leh-
man High School, Class of 1959,
took her nurse’s training at Mercy
Hospital in Scranton, and her edu-
cation at Marywood College. She is
presently serving on the staff of
Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
Beverly Bestwick Has
Second Birthday Party
Becky Bestwick; daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. John Bestwick, Davenport
Street, Dallas, celebrated her sec-
ond birthday on October 7, with a

Dr. and Mrs. William Bradbury
Entertain For Former's Parents
On October 14, a dinner party
was held at the home of Dr. and
Mrs. William Bradbury, Davis
Street, Trucksville, honoring the
former's parents, Mr. and Mrs, Wil-
liam Bradbury, Muhlenburg. Hosts
were the Bradbury's children, who
are, in addition to Dr. Bradbury,
Mrs. Rowana Jones, Hazleton, Mrs.
Sheldon Applegate, Sugarloaf, and
Lewis, Luzerne. Centerpiece was a
large tiered wedding cake bearing
the number “50” and covered with
gardenias. 1
The Bradburys were married in
Niagara Falls, N.Y. October 10,
1912. There are nine grandchildren.
Joseph Blazicks, Wed
Thirty Six Years
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Blazick, Sr.,
Sweet Valley, observed their thirty-
sixth wedding anniversary with a
family dinner Sunday, October 21.
They were married October 17,
1926, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel
Church, Lake Silkworth, with the late
Father Bobeck officiating. Attendants
were Edna Bresko, Plymouth ' and
Stephen Novak, West Nanticoke.
Mrs. Blazick is the former Mary Jan-
usiwicz, daughter of the late Mr. and
Frank Janusiwicz, West Nanticoke.
Mr. Blazick is the son of the late Mr.
and Mrs. Joseph Blazick also of West
Nanticoke. :
The Blazicks have four children,
Joseph, Jr. a corrections officer at
the Graterford State Institution; Ger-
ald, Patterson, New Jersey; Leonard,
with the Navy at Willow Grove; and
Mrs. Elenor Germaine, Sandford,
Florida. There are ten grandchildren.

Hears Talk On Russia
Couples Club of Dallas Methodist
Church met Sunday night at the
Church, with Ken Young presiding.
The program consisted of Samuel
Davenport, teacher at Lehman High
School, who talked on “Russia To-
day.” Mr. Davenport traveled in
Russia in 1961 and showed some
slides of his travel, he also answered
questions. Committee in charge of
serving: Mr. and Mrs. Fay Hopkins,
Mr. and Mrs. William Richardson;
in charge of worship, Mr. and Mrs.
Paul Wasserott. Attending ‘were:

Attending ‘the meeting were: Mrs.
Leonard Craig, Mrs. Ned Hartman,
Mrs. James Huston, Mrs. Francis J.
Barry.
Plans were completed for the
dance to be held, Friday, November
23 at Continental Inn. Dancing will
be from 9-to-1 with music by Bob
Baird’s Orchestra. A buffet lunch
will be served at mid-night.

of a daughter, [Susan Lynn, October
6 in Nesbitt Hospital. She weighed
8 lbs. 1 oz. She has a big sister,
Jean Marie who will be 7 on Hal-
loween.
Mrs. Dickinson is ithe former

Dickinson is son of Mrs. Jeanette
Dickinson of East Dallas. Mr. Dick-
inson is employed by the Dallas
Senior High School.
The baby will bt christened on

Nuss Family Reunion
After Seven Years
For the first time in over seven
years, all four children of Mr. and
Mrs. Charles Nuss, Sr., were able to
be home at the same time. Charles,
Jr., his wife, Lois and children, Mark
and Dana, came from Louisiana,
Missouri, Mr. and Mrs.Arthur Nuss
and David from Puloski, N. Y.; Ron-
ald, from Washington, D. C.; Susan,
now Mrs. Robert Masters and daugh-
ter, Cindy, from New Hope, Pa. The
Nusses had a family dinner.
Present were Mr. and Mrs. Alden
Wagner, Sr., Huntsville; Mr. and
Mrs. Alden Wagner, Jr., and Paul
and Mark, Haltwood, Pa.; Mr. and
Mrs. Earle Jones, Kenny and Rich-
ard, Springfield, Va.; George Fenner,
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Meixell and

party, Saturday evening. Dancing

Chapter, Daughters of the American
Revolution, Wednesday afternoon at |

Proceeds of this annual affair go to
the maintainence of schools for un-
derprivileged children throughout
the country.
After the readings, members and
guests gathered about the tea tables
| which sparkled with gold fruit and
a sun burst arrangement of chrysan-
themums. Presiding at the tables
were Mrs. J. Stanley Rinehimer, Mrs.
William Luchenbach, Mrs. Coray Mil-
ler and Mrs. Stanley K. Walborn, all
past regents of ‘the local chapter.
Reesponsible for this autumn set-
ting were Carrie Meixell, chairman of
decorations, and her committee Mrs.
W. F. Newberry, Mrs. Thomas Gra-
ham, Mrs. Edwin Shortz, Mrs. Wil-
liam J. Day and Mrs. Robert Rosen-
bluth.

Surprised On Birthday
Monday evening, Mrs. Torrence
Naugle, Sweet Valley was pleasantly
surprised when a group of Lady Toby
Rebekah Lodge members dropped in
to help her celebrate her birthday.
She received many lovely gifts. En-
joying the birthday cake and coffee
were: Mildred Baker, Rebekah Grey,
Mary Shaver, Jennie Shaver, Maude
Yeisley, Ruth Shupp, Peg Robbins,
Mabel Mitchell, Delores Trumbower,
Dorothy Perrego, Ann Alt, Mr. Nau-
gle; Merle Davenport and her son
Reynold. -
Retired Sordoni Man
Is Honored At Dinner
Jake Gabel, a retired Sordoni
Construction Co. employee and his
wife, were among the 200 persons
at the Quarter Century Club Ban-
quet at Hotel Sterling, October 13.
Mr. Gabel’s son Harold, who was
unable to be present, along with
William Hughes, were awarded
diamond studded pins in recogni-
tion of twenty-five years service
with Sordoni Enterprises.

Have Spaghetti Dinner
Tdetown Couples Club met in the
Churchhouse on Saturday night,
with the men of the club, serving
a spaghetti dinner. Present were
Rev. and Mrs. Norman Tiffany, Mr.
and Mrs. Marshall Harrison, Mr.
and Mrs. Henry Begstrasser, Mr. and
Mrs. Merrel Burnett, Mr. and Mrs.
Richard Ide, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred
Swelgin, Mr. and Mrs. Willis Ide,
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wilson and
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Sweitzer.
lainbow Girls
The next meeting of Charles
James Memorial Assembly No. 144,
Rainbow girls will be on Thursday
at 7:30 at the Trucksville Methodist
Church Educational Building.
This will be preceded by a re-
hearsal for officers at 6:15.
Birthdays will be celebrated at
this meeting.
Try to have petitions in at this
meeting, also bring in candy
money.
The Rainbow girls are selling
