Mrs. Thomas is the former Louise

Cathy Martin, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Martin, Stafford Street,
Trucksville, observed her thirteenth
birthday October 1. She is a member
of the eighth grade, Gate of Heaven
School.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Dooley, Harveys
Lake and New York City, Mr. and
Mr 8A ]bert L. Ray and children, Kar-
la, Kevin, Barry, Brooke and Grace-
ann, Sweet Valley, were dinner guests
of Mr. and Mrs. James Banks and
Mr. and Mrs. James Bottoms, Wilkes-
Barre, Sunday.
The following children were bap-
tized last Sunday with Rev. James
Garrahan officiating. At the Maple
Grove Methodist Church, Pikes Creek
were Lori Beth, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Gerald Naugle; Denise Jean,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Rem-
ley; Elizabeth, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs, Thomas Sayre: Terry June,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Sayre; Twins Rene and Lloyd, child-
ren of Mr, and Mrs. Sheldon Lam-
oreaux. The six babies are cousins.
All are residents of Pikes Creek, with
the exception of the Lamoreaux twins
who reside in Newark, New Jersey.
Robert Thomas, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Clarence Swire was baptized at the
Loyalville Methodist Church and Beth
Dee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thom-
as Donsavage at the Meeker Method-
ist Church: Rev. Garrahan is pastor
of the three churches.

recently returned from General Hos-
pital, after submitting to tests.
‘Mr. and Mrs. Clarence West, Buf-
falo, N.Y., attended the 45th reunion
of Plymouth High School, Saturday
night at the Country Club. Mrs. La-
verne Race, Davenport Street, who
also attended, enjoyed the reminisc-
ing with her former classmates.
Mr. and Mrs. Jackson Askey and
daughters, Coleen and Sheila, of
Horseheads, N.Y., were guests of Mr.
and Mrs. Forrest Roese, Sweet Valley,
on Sunday. ‘
Rev. and Mrs. C.H. Frick are spend-
ing two days at Somerset, Pa., where
Rev. Frick will attend the Board
Meetings of the Seay Memorial Child-
rens Home, of which he is a director.

ed Mrs. Welch at Retreat Hospital,
Friday and are sorry to report that

Fiske attended the Bloomsburg Fair,
Saturday.
Robert Taylor, son of Mr. and Mrs.
J.R. Taylor, New Goss Manor, has
received membership in Phi Theta
Kappa, National Honorary Scholar-
ship Society for Junior Colleges. He
is a sophomore at Bluefield College,
Bluefield, New Jersey.
Mrs, Viola Schmassman, Woodlawn
Drive, has returned after spending
two weeks in Somerville, N.J., with
her daughter.
Ronnie Richards, son of Mr. and
Mrs. John Richards, Trucksville, the
lad who was severely burned in his
sleeping bag, in early summer, re-
turned to his home, recently. Ronnie
is ying tutored by Mrs. 'VanHorn
and’is in the seventh grade.
Mrs. Fred Snyder, Scranton, re-
cently visited her daughter and son-
in-1g4y, Mr. and Mrs. Al Shaffer,
Lake View Terrace, Harveys Lake.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Jennings attend-
ed the Penn State - Navy Game, at
University Park, on September 22nd.
Sarah Morris, Bryn Mawr, was their
recent guest.
Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Moen and
daughters, Dallas, attended the Penn
State - Air Force game, at Univer-
sity Park, this past weekend.

weekend with Mrs. William's par-

half.
Mrs. Weidner is the former Shirley

Fox, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, now
of Burbank, Calif. Mr. Weidner is son

teacher at Lehman, Elementary
School. He is employed as printer

ing secretary of the Garden Club
Federation of Pennsylvania. Elec-
tion took place at Erie on Tuesday,
September 25. Installation for a
two year term took place on Wed-
nesday.

ed their forty-fifth wedding anni-

SP4 Richard Cummings
Spends Leave At Home
SP 4 Richard Cummings, recently
spent a leave at the home. of his par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Cummings,
Sr,, Sutton Road, Trucksville, after
being stationed in Korea for the past
fifteen months. He was entertained
at a family picnic during his leave.
Attending were brothers and sis-
ters, Eileen, Helen, Francis, John,
Charles, Larry and Joanne, Mr. and
Mrs. Phillip Cummings, Jr. and
daughter Barbara, Dick and his par-
ents.
Cummings is now stationed at the
Seneca Ordanance Depot.

ls Married In California
A beauty contestant whose honors
include the title, Miss Princess Tele-
phone, the former Peggy Joyce Har-
desty, of Yorba Linda, Calif. became
the bride of E. Sandel Hunt, Septem-
ber 9, in an afternoon ceremony at
Capilla de San Antonio, Cal. Mr. and
Mrs. William Hardesty, Yorba Linda
Blvd., Yorba Linda, are parents of the
bride while the bridegroom is son of
Mr. and Mrs. Sandel C. Hunt, 751 E.
Pinehurst Ave., La Harbe, former
Dallas residents.
For the ceremony at which the
Rev. Mr. Jarvis P. Brown officiated
the bride was attired in a full-length
gown of delustered satin which feat-
ured roses at the waistline and lace
at the oval neckline and on the skirt.
Pearls and crystals held her butter-
fly veil and she carried gladioli,
stephonitis and orchids.
Oak leaves in red, brown and gold
were carried with autumn-hued
chrysanthemums by bridal attend-
ants whose costumes were gold bro-
cade sheaths fashioned with boufant
overskirts and complemented with
matching headpieces. Mrs. Lawrence
Felcher of Brea was matron of honor
and bridesmaids were Carol Scherer
and Mrs. Kermit Dennis, ‘Anaheim.
Pale apricot organdy was worn by
Lorry Hock of Long Beach, flower
girl. She carried gold chrysanthe-
mums in a basket.
. David Walters, Orange was best
man. Ushers were John Creager,
brother-in-law of the bridegroom, La
Habre, Al Hoogeveen and Kermit
Dennis, Anaheim and Newell Har-
desty, Fullerton.
In the Houseparty for the garden
reception at which the newlyweds
received 150 guests were Mrs. Myron
Hock of Long Beach and Joanne
Creager. '
Mrs. Hardesty was attired in a gold
and blue brocade sheath with which
she wore blue accessories and a gold
orchid corsage. Mrs. Hunt chose navy
blue and white.
‘For travel to Lake Tahoe, the bride
selected light brown knit suit, a beige
pillbox and other beige accessories.
A Fullerton home will be establish-
ed by the newlyweds. The bride is a
secretary at American Electronics
Inc. and attended the Verna Miller
School of Modeling. The bridegroom
holds a law degree from LaSalle Un-
iversity and received an electrical
engineering degree at University of
Arizona. He is a reliability engineer
at American Electronics Inc.
The Hunts have many friends and
relatives in this area.

Helen Long Becomes
Bride Of David Blaine
The Assembly of God Church,
Mooretown, was the setting Satur-
day afternoon, one o'clock for the
marriage of Helen Long, daughter
of Mr and Mrs. Simon Long, Sweet
Valley, to David Blaine, son of Mrs.
Clara Blaine and the late Frease
Blaine, Church Street, Nanticoke.
Rev. Louis Trotta, Pastor, per-
formed the ceremony. Violet Hardy
was organist and Mrs. Jean Trotta,
soloist.
Dorothy Long, sister of the bride
was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were
Betsy Winter and Jenny Long, sisters
of the bride, and Mrs. Marjorie Cot-
terman, cousin of the bride. Flower
girl was another sister of the bride,
nine year oid Mary Jo Long.
Frank Spock, Plymouth, served as
Mr. Blaine’s best man. Ushers were
Silas Blaine and William Blaine,
brothers of the bridegroom, and Wil-
liam Corbett, Newark, N.J. Robert
Long, ten year old brother of the
bride was ring bearer.
Given in marriage by her father,
the bride wore a floor length gown
of chantilli lace and ‘tulle over taffe-
ta, designed with fitted basque bod-
ice, long tapered sleeves, scooped
neckline of scalloped lace featuring
sequins and pearl trim. The front of
the bouffant skirt was offset with |
appliques of Alencon lace; tiers of]
ruffeled tulle and lace formed the.
back skirt, which fell into a chapel
sweep. She carried a Colonial bou- |
quet of carnations and lilies of ‘the
valley.
The Maid of honor chose ice blue
chiffon dress featuring long sleeves,
jeweled neckline, “and “lace bodice.
She carried a nosegay of ‘blue and
white carnations,
Bridesmaids dresses were nylon
cocktail gowns with scooped neck-
lines, fitted bodice, and full skirts.
Sleev~s were puffed, and satin
bows formed the belts. Colors cho-
sen were pink, blue, and yellow,
with each girl carrying a matching
nosegay of carnations. 1
The attractive little flower girl
wore dress of pink chiffon with re-

Mrs. Simon Long, mother of the
bride selected cocoa brown pressed
jersey sheath, with brown and beige
accessories, and corsage of yellow
glamilias.
Mrs. Blaine, mother of the groom,
chose blue silk dress with jeweled
neckline and three-quarter length
sleeves. Her accessories were red and
her corsage, white glamilias.
Following the ceremony a recept-
ion for approximately one. hundred
fifty guests was held at the home of
the bride's parents.
Mrs. Blaine is a graduate of Hunt-
ington High School. Prior to her mar-
riage she was employed at.General
Cigar Co., Kingston. Mr. Blaine is a
graduate of Shickshinny High School.
He is employed as a yardman for Arco
Trucking Co. Union City, N.J.
The couple reside at: 47 Thomas
Street, Newark, New Jersey. °
A large variety shower was given
on August 4, by Irene Lamoreaux;
Dorothy Long, and Joan Harrison.
Out of town guests attending the

ding anniversity on September 24
with open house for friends and rel-
atives. The party table was attractive
with centerpiece of roses and huge
wedding cake baked by their niece,
Mrs. Charles Salico.
The couple was married at Noxen
Methodist Church, September 19,
1912, by the Rev. Joseph Pennell and
spent all their married life in Noxen
except for fifteen years in Endicott,
N.Y.

Auxiliary will open the season with
a covered dish supper Friday, Octo~
ber 5, 6:30 p.m. in the social room
of Centermoreland Methodist
Church. Each member is asked to
bring, her own place setting. Dessert
and beverage will be served by Mrs.
Truman Reeves, Mrs. Draper Schoon-
over, and Mrs. Harold Davenport.
