FARE aa HE ' FH he a ’ heating oil He's almost 91 years old, but it would be difficult to persuade Rev. John John Jones to retire from the ministry. He tried it once, and even went so far as to enter the Presbyterian Home in Quarryville.. Six months was enough to convince him that retirement was not for him. With a feeling like that of a boy let out of school, or a homing pigeon on the wing, he was up and out and away. His voice, he says, is not as good as it once was, but it holds out well enough for one service a week at the Outlet Bible Tabernacle, and for a Wednesday evening session in Forty Fort, where he teaches a community clags at the Town Hall. Right now the subject matter is Ezekiel. To look at him, nobody would suspect that he is ninety years old, with a birthday coming up January 12. Sooner or later, the Dallas Post will snap a picture of him, immor- talizing that erect stance, his thatch lighting up a ruddy face. Just before he stepped into his car and swung it expertly into Leh- man Avenue, he said that he and his wife lived in Shavertown, and that he was considering subscribing to the Dallas Post, it had all the Rev. John Jones, Almost 91, Says Retirement Is For Old Folks of white hair, and his twinkling eyes | THE DALLAS POST, THURSDAY, OCTOBER 4, 1962 news in it that he really needed. Last week he had read with great interest the story about the finding of Clarence Schoonover’s body in the Canadian lake where he had drowned ‘while on a fishing trip. Rev. John John Jones, a friend of William Story, was moved to write some verses about the tragedy. Could they be used? Poetry, it was explained, was difficult to set in type. The verses would have to bide their time. Right now, minus one linotype operator (Johnnie Kupstas enlisted last week) the. Post was limping along on three cylinders. But eventually, John John was assured, the material would be used. Rev. Jones explained the reason for the double John. Seems in his family, boys were given their fa- ther’s first name as a middle name. Howard John Jones, William John Jones, and now John John Jones. John John fumbled in his pocket for his wallet. . “Be our guest,” we parried the offering, “we'll put you on the Eighty-Plus Club roster, and send you the paper with our regards. A ninety-year old resident of Shaver- town qualifies, even if he WAS born in Nanticoke.” Missionary Crusaders To Present Program Boys and girls of Mooretown As- sembly of God Missionary Crusaders will present a special program Sun- day evening at 7:30, directed by Mrs. Wilbur Shaw and Mrs. John Gelsleichter.
