Carleton Hadsall returned to his
home, Harris Hill Road, Trucksville,
Sunday, after being a patient in
Nesbitt Hospital, undergoing tests
and treatment for a back injury.
Mrs. Joseph Hudak, Parrish Street,
was admitted to Mercy Hospital,
Saturday morning, when a leg infec-
tion flared suddenly, and she de-
veloped a high fever. At last report,
she was responding to treatment.
Executive Board of W.S.C.S., will
meet October 1st. at 2:30, to plan
for the October 9th. meeting, which
will be held at 1 p.m., with dessert
followed by the meeting at 1:30 p.m.
This change is necessary, due to the
Wilkes-Barre District Meeting, and
ygill be held at First Methodist
Church, in Pittston, October 9th.,
7:30.
- Ruth Miller, student nurse at
Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, re-
cently spent the weekend with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Mil-
ler, Huntsville St.
Mr. and Mrs. Gary Cooper,
Davenport St, recently motored,
along with their son; Gary Jr. to
Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia,
where Gary underwent tests.
Mrs. Forrest Roese, Sweet Valley,
is spending a week in Elmira, N. Y.
Mr: and Mrs. Charles Hosler, Par-
rish St., spent the weekend in Pen-
ryn, where they visited Mr. Hosler’s
mother and aunt.
Phyllis Hanna, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. William Hanna, Wyoming
Avenue, had acute appendectomy
on Thursday, in Nesbitt Hospital.
Mrs. Edward Stair, ‘Shavertown,
recently spent ra week with her
sister-in-law, Mrs. Mayme Flickinger,
Mountain Top.
Brickel Class, Dallas Methodist
Church, met Friday evening, at the
home of Mrs. Fred Welsh, Center

Jean, to Thomas Hopa, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Edward F. Hopa, Hunts-
ville. Betty Jean is also daughter

Miss Davis was graduated from
Dallas Senior High School. She is
employed by Bergmans, Narrows
Center. A lyric soprano, she has
studied singing with Mrs. Ruth
Reynolds and is now soloist at
church services -and weddings.
Mr. Hoppa was graduated from
Westmoreland High School and
Wyoming Valley Technical Institute.
He is associated with his father
in the construction business.
The ceremony will be preformed in %
Trucksville Methodist Church in
June. Rev. Robert E. Germond will
officiate.

home on Chase road. Mrs. Levy is
the former Hilda Morris. Both she
and her husband formerly lived in
Wilkes-Barre, Mr. Levy is now re-
tired.
Mr. and Mrs. John Krogulski and
family have moved from Wind Gap
to a home they purchased at 45
Lehigh Street, Shavertown. Mr,
Korgulski is associated with the
sommonwealth telephone Company.
Mr. and Mrs. Lou Taylor, Atlanta,
Ga, are spending sometime with the
latter's mother and sister, Mrs. F.
al. Gordon and Mrs. Florence
Nis, Norton Avenue. Mrs. Taylor
is the former Ruth Gordon. The
Taylors recently celebrated their
fiftieth wedding anniversary with
a party given by their daughters.
Mrs. Lawrence Shaw, Mrs. Leslie
Shaw and Muriel Shaw, Shickshinny,
were recent guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Alvin Long and Brent, Parrish Street.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lancaster, West
Franklin Street, Shavertown, cele-
brated their 32nd wedding annivers-
ary, September 19. The Lancasters
were married in the Methodist
Church, in Parsons. Mrs. Lancaster
is the former Theresa Reese. Mr. Lan-
caster is employed as a postman.

First meeting of the 1962-63 W. S.
C. S. season Dallas Methodist Church
tuesday evening heard reports from
treach campers, Jean Fleming and
Richard Love. Jean gave a very in-
teresting and thorough report of the
wg ivities.
Mrs. William Baker and Mrs. Char-
les Hosler gave reports on the cours-
es at Keystone School of Missions.
The regular business meeting re-
ported successful Tea, netting over
$80. The fall Bazaar, will be held
November 10. To prepare for ‘that
event, the next meeting will be held
October 10. All members are urged
to bring a prospective member.
There were thirty-two in attendance.
Mrs. Ann Jewell, Parrish Street,
who was taken in the Dallas Ambul-
ance, on Thursday, is a medical pati-
ent at ‘the General Hospital and is
responding to treatment. :

boro, spent the weekend with Mrs.
Etner’s sisters, Mrs. Ralvh Brown
and Mrs. Forrest Roese, Sweet Val- |
ley.
Mrs. Raymond Kuhnert Jr., Har-
veys Lake, recently returned from
Nesbitt Hospital, after having an av-
endectomy. (A few weeks ago. Sandy.
So tiior of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond
Kuhnert Jr. had the misfortune of
falling from a hay wagon and break-
ing her clavicle.
Mr. and Mrs. Ira Cease. Shaver-
town and Ray Hubler, West Pittston.
spent a week with Mr. and Mrs. Wes-
ley Newcomb and family, Newark,
Ohio.
Mr. and Mrs. Rov Stair. Dallas R.
D. 3, have welcomed into ‘their home
a nine week old baby boy, Robert.
They have a little girl, Susan, twenty
seven months.
Theodore Cadwalader. East Dallas,
was stricken with a heart attack
Thursday evening in front of the
Lake-Noxén Clinic in Noxen. He
is a patient at General Hospital, re-
ported doing wel.
St. Hubert Canada. He is now at
Handcock Air Force Headquarters
at Syracuse, N. Y., and residing on
the base there He is also taking an
evening course at Syracuse Univer-
sity to obtain a degree.
Return To Overbrook
Barbara Hadsall, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Carleton Hadsall, Harris
Hill Road, Trucksville; Randy Thay-
er, Dalton, and Marj Sorber, daugh-
ter of Robert Sorber, Sorber Moun-
tain returned to Overbrook School,
in Philadelphia, Sunday, after spend-
ing the weekend at their respective
homes. Barbara missed seeing her
daddy this weekend as he is a pa-
tient at Nesbitt Hospital. Randy,
likewise missed his daddy, he was
on a business trip in Oregon. Miss
Sorber; who is a former student at
Overbrook, will observe her fifth
year as a house mother, in the near
future.
Claudia Laux, Elected
Sorority Vice-President
Claudia Laux phoned her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Laux of Dallas
Monday night to report that she
had been elected vice president of
her sorority, Rho chapter of Theta
Phi Alpha, located in McElwain Hall
at Penn State. Claudia, in her sen-
ior year, has been house manager.

Local Men Enjoy
Fishing In Canada
Eight local men recently enjoyed
a fishing trip at Parent Lake, Que-
bec, Canada; Caddy LaBar, Nelson
Dymond, Harold Brobst, Carleton
Rogers, Tom Wyda, Andy Denmon,
Fred Dodson, and Joe Hand. They
were in Canada ten days, but only
got a few days of fishing, due to
the snow, sleet, wind and rain. They
enjoyed being together and making
the trip safely. There were plenty
of fish brought home. :

Mrs. Daisy Farver, former Back
Mountain resident, her daughter,
Mrs. Mary ‘Wheeler Cook, and
grandson, Barry Cook, with whom
she now resides at Roselle, N. J., |
and R. J. Morgan, are spending
some. time . with friends, and rela-
tives in this area.
Mrs. “ Farver is a sister of Mrs.
Goldie Kitchen and Mrs. Daniel
Brown, Idetown. Although Mrs.
Farver is confined to a wheel chair,
because of a broken hip, she at-
tended morning services at the
Huntsville Christian Church, where
she is a member. Her sister, Mrs.
Kitchen is also confined, because of
a broken hip. This is the first time
they have seen each other, since
Mrs. Farver’s accident a year ago.
Mrs. Farver would like to hear from
her friends. Her address is 1205

Harveys Lake Boy
Sent To Thailand
_ Army Specialist Four Mark A.
Wnek, son of Mr. and Mrs. John
A Wnek, Harveys Lake, recently de-
parted for Thailand from Hawaii
with the 25th Division's 35th In-
fantry.
Wnek, an automatic rifleman in
Battle Group 1, Company D, entered
the Army in September 1960. The
20-year old soldier is a graduate of
St. Vincent’s High School, Plymouth.
Mrs. Harvey Kitchen
Hostess To Club Board
Mrs. Harvey Kitchen was hostess
recently to members of the Executive
Board, Harveys Lake Women’s Serv-
ice Club. Assisting her were Mrs.
Montross. Mrs. Charles Williams pre-
sided. .
October program chairman Mrs.
Harold Bennett announced that Un-
ited Nations Month would be ob-
served October 4 with special pro-
gram.
Plans were completed for the Oc-
tober 1, 2, and 3 Rummage Sale to
be held at Lare’s Building in Luzerne.
Plans for the annual Hallowe'en
Dance were discussed.

On Fifth Birthday
Saturday afternoon, Judy Reese
was guest of honor at a party to
celebrate her fifth birthday. Her par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Reese were
hosts at their home, Demunds Road.
The large birthday cake was in the
form of a clown and each child was
given a circus favor.
Games were played and prizes a-
warded.
Enjoying the party were Leon Sid-
orek, Mary Alice Lumley, Dianne
Gelsleitcher, Butch Reese, Mary Lou
Borzone, Linda Neyhard, Joan, Bar-
bara and Buddy Reese and Mrs.

oring Eileen Cummings, daughter of

Will Be Eagle Scout
LARRY EDWARDS
Larry Edwards, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Ben Edwards, Midland Drive,
Dallas, will be dubbed an Eagle Scout
by the Court of Honor at Dallas
Methodist Church tonight. Larry is
the first Back Mountain boy to earn
the Eagle Scout honor since Bob Van
Horn, who is now in his second year
at Jefferson Medical School.
Larry, member of the Junior Class
at Dallas Senior High School, where
he is an honor student, has been in
scouting for four years. He is a mem-
ber of the Order of the Arrows, a Red
Cross Life Saver, and an Acolite at
Prince of Peace Church. He is fif-
teen years old.
