Mrs. Bertha Redick, 48, Dies After Brief Illness Mrs. Bertha Marion Redick, 48, died Wednesday morning at her home in Elm Terrace, Trucksville, after a brief illness. A mass of requiem was celebrated at St. Therese’s Church, following services from the Disque Funeral Home on Saturday. Burial was at Mt. Olivet. A native of Plains, daughter of the late Jacob and Rose Olevitch, she was educated in Plains schools. Seven years ago she moved to Trucksville. For ‘thirty years she had been employed by A. Rifkin and Company, Wilkes-Barre. Church affiliations were with St. Therese’s. Surviving are: her husband Wil- liam J. Mrs. Julia Scott Dies At 92 In Niagara Falls Mrs. Julia Scott, 92, died August 24th at her home in Niagara Falls, N. Y. She was born in Stull, the daughter of the late Jacob and Ra- chel Shook. She was a graduate of Blooms- burg State Normal School and taught several years before her mar- riage. Her husband, Howard Scott, died several years ago. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Morgan and Mrs. Ruth Heximer of Niagara Falls; three sons, Harold Scott, Orlando, Florida; Gerdon Scott, Messina, N. Y.; Howard Scott, Santa Monica, Calif ; four sisters: Mrs. Lillie Mer- cilliott, Clinto Corners, N. Y.; Mrs. Emma Hough, Almedia; Miss Stella Shook, Noxen; Mrs. Hattie Mayne, Niagara Falls; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Her sister, Miss Stella Shook, went to Niagara Falls to see her this spring, and before she had visited her, broke her leg. Miss Shook was brought home to Noxen by ambu- lance. She is making satisfactory recovery, and is now on crutches. Mrs, Brline Evans Dies After Prolonged Illness Mrs. Arline Laura Evans, 51, died Tuesday morning at Nesbitt Hospital, where she had been a patient for three months. Ill for nearly a year at her home in East Dallas, she had had two previous admissions to Nes- bitt, one in October and one in April. She will be buried in Marsh Ceme- tery Friday afterncon, Rev. William Watson of Centermoreland Methodist the Disque Funeral Home. A native of East Dallas, she was daughter of Mrs. Jennie Moore and her early education in Dallas schools, transferring to Coughlin for the last two years of high school. A dependable worker in fund drives of ‘the community, she was an enthusiastic supporter of the Lit- tle League from the time of its founding in the community.
