Are Promoted
Avenue, information service officer
of the 92nd Reserve Air Terminal
Squadron, has announced the. pro-
motion of two Back Mountain Air-
force men to the grade of Sergeants.
Sgt. Donald H. Gross, Sweet Val-
ley, and Sgt. Willard Newberry,
Dallas were notified that their pro-
motions were approved retroactive
to. June 1st, 1962.
Sgt. Gross graduated from Leh-
man Township High School in 1950.
He enlisted in the Air Reserve Pro-
gram in April 1957. Graduating from
Air Transportation School, Lack-
land, Texas in December 1957, Sgt.
Gross was assigned to the 92nd
i
In June 1960 1 was an instructor
in Air Freight Operations and pro-
moted to the grade of Airman 1st
Class. With his new promotion, Sgt.
Gross has been assigned the task of
training all new men entering the
equadron.
i Sgt. Newberry was graduated
from Dallas Township High School
in 1954. He entered the Air Force
Program in December 1957. In June
he graduated from Air Transport-
ation School and was assigned to
the Air Freight Section of the 92nd
ATS.
When he was assigned the job
as shift leader in June 1960, Sgt.
Newberry was promoted to Airman
| 1st Class.

Frank Harvey, Woodlawn Drive,
Dallas, will be guest of honor at
a birthday open house at his home
on Saturday, August 25, two to six.
He will be seventy-five.
Though the Harveys went to
housekeeping in Berwick, they have
spent forty-two of their fifty-four
married years in the home they now
occupy. Mrs. Harvey is the former
Elsie Loreman of Columbia County,
Mr. Harvey is son of the late Mr.
and Mrs. Cyrus Harvey, Bethel Hill.
Eighteen months ago he retired
{from service with the Hazard Wire
Rope Division, Wilkes-Barre, where
he had spent the greater part of
his working life.

Fighters Join At Link's Before Scrap
Charley Scott, state welterweight boxing champion, arrived today

Joe Salci of Wilkes-Barre, will share training grounds.
Scott lost a clase decision to the late Benny Paret, who was Battered
to death shortly after in a championship match with Emile Griffith.
Scott is looking for a match with Griffith sometime next year.

Seranton CYC Monday. Until the bout, Scott will be sparring at Link’s
