SECTION B — PAGE 6 | Mt. Zion Mrs. Ida Howell has recently re- turned from visiting her daughter Harriet who is working in Philadel- phia. Harriet recently passed her State Board examinations and is a ‘registered murse. ~ Word has been received that Paul and Myrtle Smith are settled in ~ Center Valley R. D. near their son, Keith, and not far from their daugh- ter Evalyn in Bethlehem. Paul im- mediately got a job as one of the. maintenance men at Moravian Col- lege in Bethlehem. He'll do well at that. They are getting adjusted to their new situation. * Myrtle says she's going to spend one day a week at Keith's, and another day at Bvalyn’s. She has subscribed to the Dallas Post now so as to keep track of things here at Mt. Zion. I'll have to be sure to get up a good ck of Mt. Zion doings each week. Rother way they have of getting adjusted is to look around for a convenient church. (Take note, any of you who move to a strange place. Best way to get acquainted is in a church.) The Paul Smiths will make out all right. ANOTHER FIFTIETH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY AT MT. ZION It was July 18, 1912 at the Car- vertom Methodist parsonage that ~ Rev. William D. Lathrop united Ray ~ Mullison of Wyoming and Ida Sear- foss of Mt. Zion in holy matrimony. Last Wednesday evening many of their friends visited the couple to offer them felicitations. I asked Ida Mullison where she lived before she was married and her reply was “Right here.” It is the old Sear- foss homestead. She recalled that we attended their 25th anniversary when we were pastor here. Tt was - pleasant to meet again the Mullisons’ two daughters both of whom I had married to their husbands. Mrs. ~ Carl Monk of West Pittston, whose husband is now working for the ~ Rutgers University Press in New Jersey. They have two children, Rebeeca and Richard, whom we met, Mrs. Ruth Harris whose hus- band Robert is a teacher in Ham- - mondsport, N. Y., where they live with their two children Stephen and Martha. The Mullisons live quietly down just off the now busi- er-than-usual Hicks River Road. . Last Thursday we - four were entertained at Nelson Lewis’ home for supper. Nelson, Mae and mo- ther Lewis were the host and hostesses around a generous table beautifully spread. We all enjoyed some good visiting. After supper Jane Lloyd's two boys, Timmie and Stevie, came down for a bit of good time, Their father Tommy Lloyd has been having some trouble with a dise in his neck and was in bed. [Saturday afternoon 1 attended ‘the wedding of Nancy Lou Harris | It was a beauti- | ful occasion and Pastor Reid offici- | and Alvie D. Cook. ated in an impressive manner. Of course there were many there whom I did not know, but among ‘many whom I did know I was par- ticularly glad to see the Harris family, at least Hiram and Elsie from Milan, Chester and Edna, . Robert and Ruth, Beatrice and hus- band Harris was there to walk his daughter down the aisle to give her in marriage to Mr. Cook. And on Naney Lou's side of the house be- sides her mother there was Sher- man. Hefft and wife Marie and daughters, and Frances Hefft Krute and husband Ernest. Dr. and Mrs. Charles Gelb of Pittston have moved to their new home at Carverton Heights on Sun- set Drive. The Gelbs have three children, William, Charlotte and Earnest. They were long time friends of ours and are now in the Dallas Post “parish”. ° + Saturday was a wonderful day for us. My brother Donald came down from Binghamton with his | people clear two girls Cathy and Mary Louise. They wanted to see Dottie again be- fore she takes off for Africa. So we all got a look! We all had dinner together. What a busy visiting time we enjoyed! Then came Sunday. I was to preach at Trucksville’s two services which I did. Always I have looked forward to such an occasion, for the people were neighbors of ours when we were at Carverton Church. Be- sides, they have been most friendly to me whenever I have come. Their church windows do something for that church. Cathy has always said that the church looks as if the sun is shining even on a cloudy day. Mrs. Blackman, the organist, was very kind in showing me the details of the order of wor- ship and her musicianship al- ways pleases me. This time it happened to impress me how she sounded the first chord of the Gloria with a kind of triumphant flourish as if there really were something to give glory to God about. And Rich- ard Oliver's tenor solo thrilled me too. The front seat had a row of across, in fact two seats, representing two carloads of friends from Main, N. Y., Federated Church. Special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Emile Clavez and daughters, Sarah Belle, Rosalee, and Janet; and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Welch and children Leon, Elaine, and Douglas. After church they followed my car home and unloaded all sorts of picnic style food and equipment in- cluding chairs, and a folding table, jugs and containers of iced drinks. I think these (and some others I know) belong to the “seven thou- sand who have not bowed the knee to Baal” whom the Lord knows about and can use to encourage some pessimistic Eliijah!
