Red Cross Is Holding
Swimming Classes
On Mondays and Fridays, until
August 31, Red Cross swimming
lessons will be given free of charge
in the area, with John Nagle as
instructor, Lessons started late in
June.
Mondays at 1 p.m. instruction is
given at Sandy Beach; at 2 p.m. at
the Boat Club. Harveys Lake; at
3, at Wardan Place.
On Fridays, at 10 a.m, there are
swimming lessons at Sunset; at 11
a.m., Lake Silkworth; at noon,
North Lake; at 1 p.m., at Sylvan
Lake. i701» i
Each summer vacation time is
marred by reports of drownings. The
best protection against drowning,
says the Red Cross, is ability to
swim, and swim well, so that there
is no panic when a canoe upsets, or
a bather steps off a hidden ledge
into deep water. Don’t rely on swim-
ming aids such as inflated mattres-
ses or inner tubes, learn to handle
any situation in the water.
If you can manage to stay scared
11° the time, these international
crises won't bother you a bit.
