Funeral Services For
Leslie F. Spencer.
Leslie F. Spencer, former man-
ager of Pen-Fern gas station in
Fernbrook, died Sunday night at
his home in East Dallas after a long
illness.
He was buried Wednesday in
Wardan Cemetery, following ser-
vices conducted by Rev. William
Watson, pastor of East Dallas Meth-
odist Churh, of which Mr. [Spencer
was a member, and Rev. Andrew
Derrick, pastor of Glenview Prim-
itive Methodist Church.
He was a native of Kingston
Township, son of the late George
and Louisa Smith Spencer.
Surviving is his widow, the former
Anna Atherholt.
Harry L. Gates
Dies At Mercy
Harry L. Gates, 61, Jackson Town-
ship chicken farmer, died early Sat-
urday morning at Mercy Hospital, a
few hours after admission late on
Friday.
He was buried Monday afternoon
in Huntsville cemetery, following
services conducted by Rev. Charles
H. Frick from the Williams Funeral
Home.
A lifelong resident of Jackson
Township, he was son of the late
Livingston L. and Minnie Garrison
Gates.
He was a member of Huntsville
Christian Church.
Surviving are: his widow, the
former Beatrice Davis of Plymouth;
two daughters, Mrs. William O’Brien
Idetown, and Mrs. Rowles, Plymouth
a sister, Mrs. Carrie Corby of Court-
dale; five grandchildren.
Services Today For
Mrs. Celesta A. Day
Mrs. Celesta (A. Day, 65, died Mon-
day at her home on Ilarris Hill
Road after a long illness. She will
be buried this morning in Memorial
Shrine cemetery, following services
conducted at 11 by Rev. William
Reid, pastor of Carverton Methodist
Charge, from the Richard Disque
Funeral Home.
She was born in Catawissa, April
4, 1897, daughter of the late George
and Margaret Erwin. Mrs. Day re-
ceived her education in Milton pub-
lic schools and had resided in
this area 22 years, having moved
there from Florida. Mrs. Day was
a member of Carverton Methodist
Church and its organizations; also
the Spanish-American Auxiliary - of
Milton.
Surviving are her husband, J. J.
Day, Sr.; son, J. J. Jr. and a grand-
son, Timothy Day, all at home;
sister, Mrs. Ethel Phillips of Elmira,
N. Y.; brother, John, Rochester,

To Meet At Sterling
Christian Business Men's Com-
mittee, Wyoming Valley, will meet
at Hotel Sterling for dinner Tuesday
evening at 6:45 and hear a talk by
Dr. Arthur M. Chimenhaga, presi-
dent of Messiah College, Grantham,
Pa.
and a half years as missionary in
Africa and was consecrated to the
Bishopric of the Northern and
Southern Rhodesia Brethren in
Christ Churches. He received his
Doctor of Sacred Theology from the
Los Angeles Baptist Theological
Seminary.
Trumpet selections will be, given
by the Arendt Brothers of Noxen.

Methodist Wyoming Conference
Progress Crusade has exceeded its
goal of $1,346,361 by $48,904. A
total of $1,395,265 has been raised in
cash and pledges from 300 churches.
The results of the Campaign to
date in the four Districts follows:
Binghamton $602,140 from 76
churches, Oneonta $209,301 from 61
churches; Scranton $291,052 from 84
churches and Wilkes-Barre $292,772
from 79 churches. 142 churches in
the Conference have achieved or ex-
ceeded their goals. /
The campaign is not over, many

As I read the papers it looks to me that the supreme
court ruling in the case of the New York school prayers
is just and right. It did not rule against praying! It
ruled against the State or any local government’s handing
this prayer in your school. This one is all right to pray.”
I do not favor any local government telling anybody
anybody what is a proper prayer to pray. If I had chil-
dren in school I think I would teach them to say silent
prayers under any and all circumstances,

Sheldon Pollock Has
Fatal Heart Seizure
Sheldon. Pollock 57, Sweet Valley,
was buried Saturday afternoon in
Maple Grove Cemetery, following
services conducted by Rev. B. Kirby
Jones from the Bronson Funeral
Home.
Mr. Pollock died Wednesday
morning at Nesbitt Hospital where
he had been admitted the preceding
Friday after suffering a heart at-
tack.
A native of Ceasetown, son of
Mr. and Mrs. William Pollock, he
had been a timber contractor for
the past thirty years. He attended
Sweet Valley Christian Church.
He is survived by his widow, the
former Julia ‘Gross; a daughter,
Ruth, at home; two sisters, Mrs.
Emogine Davenport and Mrs. Irene
Ehret, both of Sweet Valley.
