PR hen onside SECTION B — PAGE 4 Mount Zion -:- Carverton -- - Orange Last Sunday - Paul Smith told us they were down near Keith on Tuesday. they were always an inspiration to me when I preached. You know how some people are, they seem to | know what the preacher is talking about! ‘When I was preaching I used to think it was quite wonder- ful to run across somebody knew what I was driving at. Paul and Myrtle were that kind. They will be missed by their friends and neighbors. Paul and Myrtle are going to miss Mt. Zion but they will be mear their children and grandchildren. Meanwhile and soon Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Shafer and family of lovely children will be moving into that Smith house down on the compara- - tively quiet Hicks River Road. Just | now that road carries much more | traffic than usual on account of us folks who have to find ways to get out of this construction work to town. Even so between us and that road there, are construction ~ projeets going on that at any mo- ment can tie up the traffic. But you should have seen the U. S. Army in jeeps go by in a’ dust cloud! Noxen Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Shive visited ‘Mr. and Mrs. Richard Patton and family at Athens, on Monday. The Patton’s new son is still a patient at Robert Packer Hospital. Sandra Engelman, Peggy Coole, Barbara and Kathie Lou Engelman spent Tuesday in Bristol. Lynnette Ruth Luketic, young daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Luketic was baptized by Pastor Wes- ley Kimm in St. Lukes Lutheran Church on Sunday. Godparents were Mr, and Mrs. James Barbacci and Lillian Traver. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Auvil, Tampa. Fla., are visiting relatives and friends in this vicinity. Helen Keiper will enter General Hospital on Monday. Sherwood Krum is having exten- | sive bull-dozing done all around his house in ‘Sherwood Forest.” What | a mountain of great rocks were pulled out! His place will soon be | beautiful. If any of you are directed to come {on the road past the Wyoming Camp ! Ground as far as the old abandoned school house—just forget there ever was an old school house. It has gone the way of many other one -room school houses, once the very foundation of knowledge, cit- izenship, discipline—and some fun. School bus stops have taken their places. ‘At least four—perhaps five— young Phoebe birds are getting rest- less up on the corner post of our front porch. There is still a mystery about little cracked eggs, emerging beaks, scrawny babies, feathering bodies, stretching wings, many flies and bugs inside them, and finally too big for the nest and away they | go. I preached at Wyoming Camp Ground at the 7 o'clock wvespers. July 8 I am not dated up. All the rest of the Sundays for July and August are in my date book for preaching. 1 count up 12 times preaching, in eight parishes. THAT WHITE ELEPHANT! The Kings Crusaders of Mt. Zion had its monthly meeting last Wed- nesday night at the church. The devotions were in the form of a series of colored slides from Cath- erine Gilbert's collection, illustrating the psalm ' of thanksgiving in I Chronicles 16, and also St. Francis of Assisi's hymn ‘“‘All Creatures of Our God and King.” The class de- cided to join in with the Sunday School picnic on July 28 instead of having a separate picnic of its own. The committee on refreshments for the evening was Audrey Earl, Betty Earl and Catherine Gilbert. Cath- erine was the auctioneer for the White Elephant sale, in which every- body had a lot of fun.
