Robert Moyer, who will be a sen-
ior next. year at Pennsylvania Uni-
versity, is spending a few days with
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Homer
Moyer, before leaving this Saturday
for six weeks ROTC training at
Indiantown Gap.
Irwin U. Kistler, Hillcrest Drive,
New Goss Manor, returned from
General Hospital last week after a
successful operation. He is doing

had as guest last week Judith
Mosier, Wellesley Place, Fishkill, ‘N.
Y. Judy is Susie's former roommate
at Pennsylvania State College.
Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Zeiser and
family, Short Hills, N. J. spent the
weekend with Mr. Zeiser’s grand-
mother Mrs. H. H. Zeiser, Hunts-
ville Road, Dallas. The Zeisers ex-
pect to move to the Boston area

Ruth Gunderson of Menomonee,
Mich., spent last week with the
Frederick Andersons in Shavertown.
Charles Westervelt, Hunlock

Mrs. Florence Rolison, Poplar
Street, Fernbrook, and Mrs. Mar-
guerite Bogart, 42nd Street, Dallas,
have returned to their homes after
spending several days at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Shupp and
family of Coplay, Pa. Mrs. Shupp
is the former Beverly Bogart of Ide-
town.
Mr. and Mrs. John Havir, De-
munds Road, recently purchased
and are operating Checkerboard Inn,
Carverton Road, Trucksyille. "They
were formerly connected with
Havir's Restaurant in Luzerne. The
Culvers, former owners of the inn
are living on Holly Street, Trucks-
ville.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Doughton
SX] children, Daveport Street, spent
the weekend with Mrs. Doughton’s
brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. John
Dombroski, at Seneca Lake.

Street, entered the hospital on Sun-
day to submit to surgery.
Mrs. J. Milton Culp expects to
return to her home this week after
submitting to surgery at Memorial
Center Hospital in New York.
Mr. and Mrs. Larry Coolbaugh,
Palmyra, N. J., spent the weekend

turned recently from Fort Lauder-
dale Fla., after spending the winter

Mrs. Ramsdell, Fort Lauderdale,
Fla., on her way to Cleveland, Ohio,

Mrs. Ruth Novy, 4th grade teach-
er of Shavertown [Elementary
School, entertained at a picnic
June 14th, for her students at her
summer home, North Lake. They
went swimming, farmer danced,
went boat riding and played games.

Twenty-five Years
Mr. and Mrs. John Kubasti, Dal-
las R. D. 3, will celebrate their
twenty fifth wedding anniversary
with a family gathering on Satur-
day, June 23. The couple was mar-
ried June 20, 1937. There are
three children, Mrs. Mary Sutton,
Pittsburg, John Jr., Dallas, and
Mary ©Ondish; also two grandchil-
dren, Sharon and David Sutton.
Mrs. Kubdsti worked for ten
years for General -Cigar Company
in Kingston. Mr. Kubasti is now
employed by the Dallas Box Com-
pany, after working for thirty-five
years in the mines.
Swires Have Son
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas R. Swire,
Hunlock Creek R. D., announce the
birth of a son, June 9th at Gen-
eral Hospital.
Mrs. Swire is the former Phyllis
Stoker of Hunlock Creek.
The baby, Donald Jay, has three
older brothers, Billy, Ricky and

At Birthday Party
Danny Dornsife, Woodcliff Drive,
was honored last Saturday, his
eighth birthday, by a movie party.
Present were; Billy Block, Cindy
Lou Budd, Pefer Davies, George Hor-
watt, Joey and Richard Davis, the
guest of honor, Mrs. Eckinrode,
Robby Eckinrode and Mrs. Dornsife.
The children went to see “Ray-
mie” featured at the Forty Fort
theatre, followed by a celebration
‘at home, with all the birthday
trimmings.
A former Dallas boy, James W.
Ayre, special agent, for American
Sentinel Insurance Company, was
in town this week renewing old ac-
quaintances. Jim, who grew up on
Lehman Avenue and in the neigh-
borhood of Dallas Methodist Church
when his parents Mr. and Mrs.
James Ayre, lived here, is now a
resident of Windsor Park, Mech-
nicksburg. He is married to the
former Louise Tozer of Camp Hill.
They have no children.
Mrs. Wally Nelson, the former
Pearl Nulton, Inglewood, California,
spent four days last week with
Myrtle Miller at the home of George
Snyder, East Dallas. She is also
visiting other friends and relatives
nearby and is now with her brother,
Albert at Center Moreland and will
visit her brother, Thomas, in New
Milford.

Team, left on Sunday. for Philadel-
phia, for a two-weeks’ hitch with the

ert, Jr., at his cottage at North

Patricia K. Dyer Is
Graduated From College
Patricia K. Dyer, daughter of Mr.
and. Mrs. Robert E. Dyer of Straf-
ford, Pa., was recently awarded the
Associate in Arts degree from St.
Petersburg Junior College, St. Pet-
ersburg, Fla. While attending SPJC
she was president of the MANO
Social Club, president of the Wo-
men’s Interclub Sorority Board, a
member of the Student Government,
Circle S, Phi Theta Kappa (national
honor society for junior colleges),
student newspaper staff, and wo-
men’s intramural team.
‘At the awards assembly, Pat was
awarded the Student Government
gold key for her representation and
was named one of the top thirty
students of the college. She plans
to attend West Chester Teachers’
College, majoring in elementary ed-
ucation. She was a 1959 graduate
of Westmoreland High School:

Thursday evening friends and rel-
atives gathered at the home of Mr.

Road, to help Bill celebrate his
birthday. Two birthday cakes

Bill's wife, Shirley, and the other

Honor Scout Award
Edward Jenkins received the
coveted Honor Scout Award for out-
standing contribution to his troop
at the sixteenth annual Father-Son
banquet of Troop 232, Shavertown,
Sunday, June 10. John Butler, scout-
master presented the award.
The principle speaker was John
Crossin, Athletic ' Director, West
Central Catholic High School. He
stressed the importance of whole-
some scout activities in the training
of a good athlete.
Tom Harris, an assistant Senior
Patrol Leader, was toastmaster and
Charles Glawe, leader of the eagle
patrol, welcomed the fathers.
James McCoog was invested as
Assistant Scout Master, and will
help in training the troop of 125
members.

Road, became the bride of Lt.
Thomas E. Pesikey, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Thomas E. Pesikey of
Memphis, Tenn. Rev. Ruth Under-
wood, former pastor of Kunkle
Methodist Church, performed the
double ‘ring ceremony before an
altar flanked with bouquets of blue
and white delphinium in the White
Church on the Hill, Trucksville
where Grace « Ann’s mother and
father were married twenty-one
years ago.
The bride, given in marriage by
per mother and father, wore street
ength white marquisette gown,
styled with tight bodice, boat neck-
line and bell shaped sleeves. Her
finger tip veil fell from a pillbox of
marquisette and she carried a
Colonial bouquet of white orchids
and lilies of the valley.

bride’s home and the couple left for

with a B. S. Degree in Meteorology

Thirty-Five Years
Mr. and Mrs. Rush Lamoreux,
East Dallas, will celebrate their
thirty fifth wedding anniversary on
Thursday, June 21.
Mrs. Lamoreux is daughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lyons of
Forty Fort. Mr. Lamoreux is son
of the late Mr. and Mrs. Solomon
Lamoreux of Luzerne and Bridge-
port, Conn. The couple was mar-
ried June 21, 1927, in the parson-
