O'Donnell Taught At Lake-Lehman Miss Estelle O'Donnell, Kingston, teacher at Lake-Lehman Schools, had been ill for a long time before her death at Mercy Hospital last Tuesday night. Her position had been filled by a substitute all of this year and part of last year. As faculty advisor to the Yearbook staff, she had accomplished most of her work before being taken seriously ill. She was buried from St Ignatius Church on Friday. She had taught for nineteen years at Lake-Lehman. A graduate of Coughlin High School, she finished at College Misercordia in 1932, and took advanced work in commercial studies at Wyoming Seminary, Mis- ericordia, and Marywood -College. " She taught for three years in Swoyersville; for five years at the YMCA in Baltimore; for three years at Wilkes-Barre Business Col- lege before joining the Lehman fac- ulty. She was a member of the Pennsylvania State Educational As: sociation and the National Associa- tion. She was a native of Scranton, daughter of the late Connell and Jane Brennan O'Donnell. She was a member of St. Ignatius Church Kingston. Surviving are: an aunt, Margaret O'Donnell, Scranton; several cou- sins, Mrs. Miers Loses Her Elder Brother The community extends sympathy to Mrs, Johnson Miers of Shaver- town whose elder brother William E. Any boys or girls up to age 14 desiring to take advantaage of the five lessons but who have not registered may do so by contacting the Back Mountain Y prior to noon Monday, June 18, Altar And Rosary At the monthlyl meeting of the Gate of Heaven Altar and Rosary Society Monday evening, members heard the history of the society unfold as each past president hon- ored that evening, told of major events which took plaace during her yeaar as president and the fun that went along with them. Rev. Francis A. Kane, pastor and moderator since its beginning, intro- duced each president and preceded their talks with a brief history of the church itself and how he came to Daallas in Jan. 1951 to be pastor of a church and school that was not yet built. The parish was dedicated in Nov. 1951 and the first meeting of the Altar and Rosary = Society took place in April, 1952. Mrs, William Hussie, the former Catherine Keller, now of Bricktown, N.J., served as president until the end of 1953. Mrs. Hussie spoke of cooking for dinners and making pasties and plum pud- ding to raise money in the small kitchen behind the church. There were only enough parishioners to comprise five bands as compared to the present thirteen. Mrs, Lester Sharkowski was pre- sident in 1954. She now lives in Levittown "and was unable to at- tend. Grove Armstrong, pastor of the Trucksville Free Methodist Church - announces that Edmund preparing the deed. Although plans for the new edi- fice are not yet completed, it is the intention of the Trucks- ville Church that the first unit will have a capacity for 200 worshippers with overflow space for 75 more and class rooms for 200 Sunday School students.
