BAND WINS AGAIN
Saturday Lake - Lehman Band
went to Sherburne, N. Y. where it
competed in concert, marching, and
half-time show and received first |
prize for half-time show and second
for marching.
MOVIE-NIGHT PLANNED
Tomorrow evening the Band will
march from Lake School to Sandy
Beach Drive-In, where they will put
on a partial concert. Members of
the band are selling tickets. It is
requested that anyone planning to |
attend the movie buy tickets from
Band members.
QPACCALAUREATE TO BE HELD
This Sunday at 8 p.m. Lake-
Lehman Seniors will have their an-
nual Baccalaureate service in Leh-
man auditorium. The program will
be under the ministry of the Rev.
Norman Tiffany. The ‘Senior Chorus,
under the direction of Mr. Bernard
Gerrity will sing ‘Green Cathedral’
and ‘Bless This House’.
GRADUATION NEXT WEEK
Commencement services will be
held in Lehman auditorium Tuesday
at 8 p.m. Mr. Lester Squier, super-
vising principal, will present the

Major Completes Course
FORT LEAVENWORTH, KAN. (AH-
TNC)—Army Maj. Basil C. Balaker,
whose sister, Mrs. Olga Blackwell,
lives on Lehigh St. Trucksvillee has
completed the 16-week associate
course at the Army Command and
General Staff College Fort Leaven-
worth Kan.
Major Balaker was a member of’
Development |
the 25th class to complete the asso-
ciate course. The class, which con-
sisted of 411 U.S. Army officers
from allied nations, was addressed
by General Paul D. Adams, -com-
mander of U.S. STRIKE Command,
at graduation day exercises.
The major is assigned to the Of-
fice of the Chief of Staff of Intelli-
gence.
Major Balaker graduated from
Plains High School in 1936, and
from the University of Maryland, in
Baltimore, in 1955.
