Motorists Alerted For
Children On Vacation
Hundreds of school children are
on summer vacation and Wyoming
Valley Motor Club reminds motor-
ists to be alert for youngsters play-
ing in the streets.
R. J. Myers, club assistant man-
ager, pointed out that during the
next three months the hours be-
tween 97 am. and 3 p.m. will con-
stitute a new danger period for
potential traffic accidents involving
school-age children.
Motorists are unaccustomed to
watching for youngsters during
these hours and often become com-
placent. During the next three
months School Safety Patrol mem-
bers, with their familiar white
Sam Brown belts, are on vacation
and will not serve as reminders
that children are present. It is,
therefore, every motorist’s job to
anticipate the actions = of these
youngsters, particularly when
driving through urban areas.
‘While schools have closed for the
summer, the playground facilities
still attract many boys and girls.
School zones will continue to rate
as danger areas, regardless of
whether classes are in session or
not.
Remember, youngsters going to
and from play are in a carefree
mood, unmindful of the dangers | of
traffic.
