JANET DYMOND GRADUATES
Janet Howell, Mt. Zion entered
State Teachers College at Strouds-
burg in the Fall of 1950. Nothing
unusual about that! As a little girl
she would no sooner land home from
school than she would launch into
~ imaginative play school. Not sur-
prising that she looked toward teach-
ing as a profession.
Now after twelve years, one fine
husband and five lively children, she
was graduated Sunday night from
College Misericordia with a BS. in
Lg elementary education.
Fly
ment in earning her degree.
It was in 1953 that Janet Howell
and Richard Dymond were married.
‘Dick is an insurance salesman for
Metropolitan Life. In the summer of
1954 when Rickie was a baby
Janet earned 6 credits toward the
36 needed for her degree, by attend-
ing six weeks summer school, Then
by attending Saturday and night
classes from 1958 on, plus 8 weeks
~ as student teacher from January 30
to the end of March this year the
balance of her credits for graduation
were earned.
~ Janet will probably be doing
teaching in the Fall either as substi-
tute or regular.
Not all of Janet Dymond’ s knowl-
edge of child psychology has come
from books. Those five children are
in themselves a five-chaptered text
book! Two of them are twins. All
are lively and loveable. Besides her
own family Janet has charge of a
group of children in the Mt. Zion
Sunday School. Her capable hus-
band is an ideal father and a true
partner in the business of bringing
o up the family and has every reason
“to be proud of his wife's achieve

her rooms at the YWICA.
~ Last Sunday morning Pastor Wil-
liam Reid held the annual service of
dedication of soil and seed. This was
known as Rural Life Sunday and
brings together the faith in the
creator and the creation in a won-
derful way. This earth 'is holy
ground and should be tilled and its
resources conserved as being the
very property of God, with men as
stewards of its uses.
For the first time since I was ap-
pointed chaplain at Valley Crest
Home last January, I visited the
Ransom Home. Many of the former
Ransom residents now living at Val-
ley Crest are always asking me if I
‘have ever been back to Ransom to
visit. Now I «can tell them and
bring them the regards of their
friends in Lackawanna County. I
had a wonderful time visiting.

Clara Gonser — who read a poem
“Ma’s Tools”, and Marie LaBar, who
read variations of The Golden Rule.

playful games the girls made plans
for the future. Clara Gonser and
Thelma George were named chair-
man for the bake sale which was
held after the MYF spaghetti supper
on Saturday night. It was planned
to hold a White Elephant sale on

bring in white elephants, things
some pleople don’t want but which
some other people might want, for
a price. Then they sent the word
around to begin to think about their

How's anyone going to get any
work done while road building is
going on in front of the h'ouse!
Amazing what extensive things can
be done with power chain saws, bull-
dozers with shovels in front to push
trees to fall where the saw-man
wants them to fall and then to drag
or push them out of the way. Gaso-
line, diesel fuel and steel—a great
combination.
