ville Christian Church social room
Monday evening by Elma and Mil-
dred Major honoring their father,
Herbert J. Major, Overbrook Ave.,
who celebrated his eighty-fifth
birthday anniversary.
Mr. Major has been a life-long
resident of the Back Mountain area.
During the early part of his life |
he engaged in farming. For many
years he was employed by the
Wilkes-Barre Transit Company as |
a street car motorman and later
by the Hazard Wire Rope Company
of Wilkes-Barre, He then became
interested in the poultry business
and also served as Road Super-
visor in Dallas Township.
After his retirement, his interest
returned to farming. His health is
‘good and he is presently active in
gardening and especially enjoys
raising sweet corn and cutting his
own lawn.
| He is an active member of the
| Huntsville Christian Church and is
{an honorary elder of the Church.

PVT. RICHARD A. IDE
FORT GORDON, Georgia — Army
Private Richard A. Ide, son of Mr,
and Mrs. Wilfred A Ide of Loyal-
ville, recently completed basic train- |
ing at the U. S. Army Training
Center (Inf) at Fort Gordon,
where he was named outstanding
trainee of his company.
Pvt. Ide underwent his training
with Company C, 9th Battalion, 1st
Training Regiment,
Pvt. Ide entered the Army Feb-
ruary 12, 1962, Prior to coming in-
to the service, Pvt. Ide was em-
ployed as an electrical engineer for
the International Business Machines |
in Endicott New York.
Pvt, Ide was a 1955 graduate at
Lake-Noxen High School and a
1960, graduate from Penn State
University with a bachelor of science
degree in electrical engineering.
While at Lake-Noxen, he served
on the Student Council, For a
time, Mr, and Mrs. Ide had three
members of their family on the
council, Richard, Warren James, and '

Richard and his bride, hy former
Marlene Lattimore of Apalachin,
N. Y. started west for Dick's as-
signment at Fort Huachuca, Ari-
zona, April 27.
