But they are out of their holes and are cleaning house. Geese are flying. I saw three different flocks of robins, while riding to Sweet Valley. The “peepers” are awake. In the little swamp, back of H. E. Payne’s store they were really noisy, as I passed by. My crocus, daffodils and hy- acinths are coming up, but the snow birds are still around, so we will have our onion snow yet. i i Isn’t it thrilling to see and hear all these signs of spring, and think of the green grass, we will soon be mowing 2, I am not so good in writing my thoughts of Spring, but as I am writing I keep thinking of Rev. She has a son eight years old enrolled in this school for fatherless boys. : The time allotted us was to 5 p.m... The boys live under constant: supervision of a governess. In his particular building there are boys six to ten years of age. He showed us his desk where his hobbies, letters and personal belongings are kept. He glowed with pride as he took us on a tour of the grounds. The buildings are white with marble steps and the whole college area is surrounded by a high stone wall The facilities available to the boys are endless. The education they re- ceive cannot be surpassed. I never saw a cleaner, neat- er or more polite group of young- sters in my life. Their “Sunday Outfit” consists of trousers, sport jacket, white shirt, tie and very polished shoes. For everyday they wear corduroys and sport shirts. When 5 o'clock came, sons were seen walking toward the parking lot some with. broad smiles, some with heads lowered and some be- ing very stalwart. The mothers were proud of these fine boys. Some of the women were dressed in the very latest fashion complete with fur stoles; others were in waitress garb; some were in babushkas and one wore a WAC uniform. Their cars were from ten- year old models to the latest com- pacts, and I noticed one new Thund- erbird. 5 I have heard it said by some adults that it is cruel to send a boy to Girard—my opinion is that it would be very selfish to deny a boy the opportunity he may nev- er have any other way. A group of boys in Shavertown area have been scaring eleméntary school children with air rifles, In one case a tablet, carried by a boy, was ripped by a pellet from one of these guns. It might be wise as parents to remember that any damage done to property or to persons by air rifles, is the sole responsibility of the parent and all liability rests with the parents. Please let the children know that it is illegal to use these guns in the Township. If they own one, it can be used only on their prop- erty and the range of the pellets must not exceed the property line. Kingston Township and Dallas Town- ship Police have been alerted to this situation, but lets not wait until an eye is lost before we do what should have been done be- fore the accident.
