‘What started out as a bad day
with many complications, turned
out to be one of the nicest birthdays
ever. A singing telegram, a call
from a friend who lives close by but
whom I rarely see, a long distance
birthday greeting from my brother
in Ohio plus my favorite lemon
sponge pie as a gift and a surprise
birthday cake and ice cream party
from my father-in-law, all made
March 15, 1962 a birthday to re-
member, :
Bryce Major has returned to his
home from Nesbitt Hospital where
he was a medical patient for several
weeks.
Mrs. Albert Ide and Mrs. Alice Els-
' ton. spent a week in New York City
where they attended the
Flower Show,
The couples club of Lehman
Myghodist Church met at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Tough on
Tuesday evening.

sence of several months which she
spent recuperating from a concus-
sion received when she fell while

March 10, at the open session in the
afternoon, Rolland Featherman, as-
sistant director of social service at
Danville [State Hospital spoke on
“Alcoholism and Rehabilitation”
stressing the need for a local clinic
to care for patients after they were
discharged. It was decided that the
district deputy should take charge
of the Pomona Charter and bring it
to all meetings. Next meeting will
be held at Muhlenburg for the elec-
tion of officers in June. Mr. and
Mrs. Russell Ide and Lillian Hilde-
brandt attended from Lehman
Grange.

for two weeks and returned Sun-
day evening. Christopher ‘will ob-
serve his birthday today. He and |
his sister are victims of the virus,
so no birthday celebration is plan-
ned.

MOLLEY GOING TO STATE
Chester Molley,
hag been awarded a Half-Assistant-
ship at Penn State University for
the year 1962-1963. Mr, Molley has
been granted a sabbatical leave
from Dallas Schools in" order to
establish residency on the campus
for a year. He has been a member
of the English Departments in this
area for ten years. He graduated
with his BA degree from Wilkes
College in 1952 and got his MA
degree from Bucknell in 1958. Since
{that time he’ has spent summers
working toward his Doctorate.
Mr. and Mrs, Michael Fedorchak,
E. Patterson, N. J., spent [Sunday
with Mr and Mrs. Chester Molley,
Lehigh Street.
INCOME TAX SUNDAY ?
Did any of you ever see a Spring
Sunday any prettier than the one
that just past? This was to be our
“Income Tax Sunday” but the Call |
of the Wild was stronger than the
appeal from Uncle Sam. Apparent-
ly a lot of Shavertownians had the
