is recuperating at home following
surgery at Nesbitt Hospital.

Captain ~~ Edward Borkowski, a
graduate of Kingston Township
High School and former resident
of IS. Memorial Highway, has been
assigned to Naples, Italy, by the
United , States Air Force. Captain
Borkowski is @ communications of-
ficer stationed at Air Defense Head-
quarters. :
He and Mrs. Borkowoki, the
former Claire Martin of Montreal,
Canada, have three children, An-
dre, Virginia, and Elizabeth.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Geffert,
have moved from Edgewood Heights
to White Birch Trailer Court in
Dallas.
Mrs. Daniel Federici and infant
daughter have returned home from
Nesbitt Hospital.
Mrs. Bertha Evans and Janet
Evans, Holly Street, spent the week
end with relatives in Vestal, N.Y.
where they attended a concert giv-
en by the Trapp Family.

Reynolds Bible Class Meets
Reynolds Bible Class met at the
home of Mrs. Florence C. Finney.
Mrs. W. A. Cease presided. Mrs.
Herbert Williams gave a talk .on
migrant workers. Flower vases were
purchased for the church sanctuary.
Card Club Meets
Neighborhood Card Club met at
the home of Mrs. Harold Croom,
Wednesday night. Mrs. Sheldon
Hoover, Mrs. Harry D. Owens, Mrs.
John Roushey, and Mrs. Odgen Pal-
mer won prizes. Other present: Mes-
dames Donald Anderson, William
Lohmann, Richard Mathers, Robert
Mathers, and Eugene Thomas.
Meet With Dr. Crompton
Trustees of Trucksville Methodist
Church met at the home of Dr.
Crompton on Wednesday night. Louis
Wilcox presided at the business
! meeting. Present: Sheldon Bennett,
William Clewell, Dr. Crompton, Clif-
ford Johnson, Sherman Harter,
Norman Stookey, Louis Wilcox, and
Kenneth Woolbert.
Mrs. William Clewell and Mrs.
Harry J. Harter are in Florida.
Mrs. Rudy Gaydos, Carverton
Road, is recuperating following
surgery at Nesbitt Hospital.
An American has more food to
eat than a man of any other coun-

from eating it.
Mrs. Sarah Moss, Shaver Ave,
celebrated her 80th birthday on
Saturday. Her sister, Mrs. Clara
Dodson, Meuhlenburg, who is vis-
iting for a while, gave her a big
beautiful birthday cake.
Some of the celebrating on this
occasion was: her son-in-law and
daughter Mr. and Mrs. Leland Cooke,
Wilmington, Delaware, took her out
for dinner on Saturday and on
Sunday, her son and daughter-in-
law, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Moss, De-
munds, took her for a ride to Pikes
Creek to visit her birthplace - and
her brother and family, Mr. and
Mrs. Corey Bulford.
Mrs. Moss said she didn’t real-
ize she had so many friends until
she received so many cards and
gifts. It's a birthday she won't
forget for awhile.

granddaughter Cathy Stolarick, Fern
and Mrs. Chris Volgares at Phila
delphia.
Mr. and Mrs. John Johnson and
children, George and Sharon, Ox-
ford, New Jersey, spent Sunday
visiting Mr. and Mrs, George Shav-
er Jr., E. Overbrook Ave. and Mr.
and Mrs. Charles Snyder of Claude
St., Dallas.
Home After Three Years
Staff Sgt. Warren Fitzerald, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Fitzgerald,
Hill St., docked in New York at
8 a.m. on Monday morning after
serving in Berlin, Germany for the
past three years. He has been in
the Army for 3, years. Prior to
that he was a member of the U.S.
Coast Guard, taking a six month
training at Cape May, then on to
Groton, Conn. He took his shake-
down cruise to Cuba, While sta-
tioned aboard a ship he saw the
| boat races along the coast that cost
$100.00 per ticket for the public.
Hobby Club
Hobby Club for East Dallas met
on Wednesday evening at the home
of -Barbara Lasher. A Singer Sew-
ing Machine demonstation was
shown.
Present were Gladys Gabel, Mary
Reese, Florence Martin, Doris Kit-
chen, Vida Adams, Marella Stant-
on, Sally Wagner, Ruth Young, Car-
ol Lasher and the hostess.
Next meeting will be held at the
home of Carol Lasher. All memb-
ers are asked to wear green for
St. Patrick’s Day.

home after being a patient in Jef-
ferson Medical Hospital, Philadel-

Rinken, Anne Mathers, and Dean
Shaver attended the World Day of
Prayer at Trucksville Methodist
Church Friday afternoon.
Mrs. - Alfred Smith is a patient
in Genessee Hospital, Bt
N. Y. She is the sister of Mrs.
Gilbert Husted, and a former resi-
dent. We all wish her a speedy re-
ccovery.
Anthony Toluba spent the week-
end in Cleveland, Ohio, where he
attended the wrestling tourna-
ment, with some of the Wilkes Col-
lege students.

FORT BELVOIR, Va. (AHTNC)-
Army Pvt. Andrew J. Siket, son of
Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Siket, Ferguson
Ave., Shavertown, recently was
assigned to the U.S. Army Engineer
Center Regiment at Fort Belvoir,
Va.
A clerk in Headquarters Company
of the regimens't 3rd. Battalion,
he entered the Army last Novemb-
er and completed basic training at
Fort Jackson, S. C.
A 1960 graduate of Westmore-
and High School, the 19-year-old
soldier attended King’s College.
Mrs. Blanche Bonning, Lake Silk-
worth who has been ill, was pleas-
antly surprised with phone calls from
her daughters, Agnes Upp and Viola
Nicholas, Boston, Mass,
Mr, and Mrs. J. E. Boston had as
guests Thursday, the former’s bro-
ther, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Boston,

Georgia, where he is taking a
course in Communications Security.

each taken a turn at being confined
with measles.

Phyllis, went by bus to Philadelphia
where they spent the day shopping.
Later they were entertained at tea
at the home of Mrs. Mary Rust and
Mrs. Gertrude McDonald, Morton,
Pa. Mrs. McDonald’s daughter, Je-
anne, is married to Dean Martin,
the well known singer and actor.
Mrs. Farber and Phyllis were accom-
panied home by Mr. Farber who is
employed at Boeing Helicoptor plant
at Morton. :

Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Long, has
returned to school after being con-
fined for the past six weeks.
Firemen and Auxiliary of Sweet
Valley Volunteer Fire Department
will meet tonight at 8. All residents
are invited.
Boy Scout Troop 444 will meet at
Church of Christ Saturday morning,
at 10. Troop Leaders Joseph G.
Kipp and Albert L. Ray have ar-
ranged a tour of the State Game
Commission Building.
Mrs. Boyd Smith and daughter,
Virgina, Green, N. Y. spent the
week-end with the .former’s sister
and brother-in-law, Mr, and Mrs.
McKinley Long. Other visitors in-
cluded, Mrs. Russell Marion, Bloom-
ingdale; George Johnson, Wilkes-
Barre and Jay Long, Selingsgrove.
On Saturday Mr. Long and Mrs.
Smith visited their aunt, Mrs. Har-
riet "Tubbs, Nanticoke, who is seri-
ously ill.
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Farrell,
Philadelphia, spent Sunday as the
guests of the Alton Johnson family,
Hills of Hope. On Saturday, Pas-
tor Leslie Clouden and son, Jona-
than, Penndel, visited at Hills of
Hope. Mrs. Charles Perkins and
infant twin daughters, Rebecca Sue
and Priscilla Beth, arrived home
from the General Hospital last
week. Mr. Perkins is Hills of Hope
manager. :

home in Plymouth after being a
pneumonia patient at Wilkes-Barre
General Hospital.

party on Sunday afternoon, with
Arline. Naugle, demonstrating.

Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Ferrey and
daughter Susan, accompanied Mrs.
Caroline Ferrey to Binghamton last
Sunday, where she will be the guest
of her sister, Mrs. Margaret Aton,
for the next two weeks.
Carol Sayre, daughter-of Mr. and
Mrs. William Sayre, Lake Silk-
worth, was confined to her home
last week with chickenpox.

Democratic women of South Dis-
trict met at the home of Louise
‘Wilce, Sweet Valley. Happy birth-
days were sung to Janice and Mar-
tha Hoover. Luncheon was served to
above and following present: Cora
Hoover, Anna Kyttle, Helen and
Patsy Novak, Mary Nienius, Joan
Rogowski, Florence Wesley, Josie
Hummel, Veronica Michnavitch,
Wendy and Tammy Wilce. The next
meeting to be held at Helen Nal-
bach’s home, Lake Silkworth,
Dick Hummel and son David,
Baltimore Md., brought his dad, Lu-
ther Hummel home and spent a few
days home with his parents.

skidded and hit the old mill bridge

slid on big Baer Hollow Road and
upset. No one was injured.
Rosemary Delaney spent the
week end with sister Linda and hus-
band, John Wilson at Harveys Lake.
Skating and fishing were enjoyed.
We want to welcome Mr. and
Mrs. Kenneth Cray and family who
moved in the Jones home, also Mr.
and Mrs. Phil Sorber who are stay-
ing with Ernest Wesley till they
find a home to move in.
Mrs. Floyd Taylor had an exciting
time when she was ready to go to
the hospital. Floyd went out to put
the chains on the car that slippery
morning and the jack slipped from
under the car on him breaking four
ribs., This left it all up to her.
Claude Minor took both to the hos-
pital. They are proud parents of
another boy. After receiving treat-
ment Floyd is recuperating at hom
Mr. and Mrs. William Christopher
and son Jerry of Philadelphia spent
the weekend at their home here his
work is in Philadelphia.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Boston and
Mr. and Mrs. George Steltz, Jr.,
spent a few days at Martin’s hunt-
ing cabin, Potter County. There was
a heavy snow but the deer seem
to be standing the winter weather
quite well. A lot of time was spent
just riding around and looking for
deer.
Pvt. Donald G. Steltz arrived
home Saturday from Fort Jackson
for a twelve-day leave. He will be
stationed at Fort Rucker, Ala. after
his leave.

MOBILE, Ala. (FHTNC)— Bern-
ard Siperko, chief engineman, USN,
son of Mrs. Sophia E. Siperko, Dal-
las RD 3, is serving aboard the
ocean non-magnetic minesweeper
USS Nimble which was among the
ships representing the Navy at the
Mardi Gras celebration at Mobile,
Ala., March 2-6.
The Nimble is a unit of the At-
lantic Fleet Mine Force, home-port-
ed at Charleston, S.C.
