Shavertown Business Men's As- ¢
sociation and Back Mountain Shop-
ping Association have Combined ’
this week to stage a Washington
Birthday Sale. They hope this will
be the first of many Special sales
promotions in Shavertown.
Last year, the Back Mountain
Shopping Center’s Washington's
Birthday celebration was so success-
ful that Edward Humphreys, owner
of Humphreys’ Children’s Bootery
and Bob Boyer, manager of Mec-
Crorys, have worked avidly to in-
spire other merchants to join in the
event.
~ Each store has marked items
especially low and has special fea-
tures that will attract customers.
Those participating will be:
Henry's Jewelry gift & Card Shop,
Wally Gosart, Shavertown Lumber
Co., Whiting's Parts & Service,
Evans Drug Store, Hall's Drug
Store, Wyoming National Bank and
two restaurants, Bolton’s Diner and
Brace’s Coffee Shop, Dicton's
Bakery, The Laundercenter, Hum-
phreys’ Children’s Apparel’ and
Bootery, Adam's, Rosemary, Acme
Market De Remer's TV && Appli-
ance and McCrory’s.
Back Mountain Shopping Center
stores will feature Gift Certificates
worth $100. Coupons will be given
to customers of participating stores.
Drawing will be held Sanudey
night at the Center.

sociation was formed in Spring 1959.

Big Washington's Birthday Sales Event

Boy Scout Week
Boy Scout Troop 281,
Davies, Scoutmaster, observed Boy
Scout Week with a covered dish
ham supper sponsored by the
Mother's Auxilliary at Dallas Meth-
odist Church. Mrs. Robert Block,
chairman, was assisted by Mrs.
John Blase and Mrs. George Hess,
co-chairmen. An impressive deco-
rating theme of ‘Patriotic and
World Scouting’ was under co-
chairmanship of Mrs. Marshall Rum-
baugh and Mrs. Harold Schooley.
William Baker was toastmaster,
Miss Marie Thevenon, first aid
instructor, staged an interesting
demonstration with boys displaying
their new skills. She awarded cer-
tificates to Bruce and Marc Davies,
Calvin Tinsley, Tom Rowett, James
Knecht, Robert: Kelley, David Hess,
Joe Goode and Donald Dennis.
Highlight of the evening was a
Court of Honor conducted by the
Scoutmaster, Merit badges were
awarded to Robert Schooley, for
Personal Fitness, Athletics, Soil and
Water, and Public Health; Larry Ed-
wards, Citizenship in Nation, Wood-
carving, Home Repairs, Camping,
Public Health, and Safety; William
Baker, Citizenship
Home Repairs, and Camping; James
Yarnal, Saving and swimming. Sec-
ond class badges to James Carey,
Tom ‘Rowett and Jeffry Townsend;
first class badges to Donald Dennis,
Bruce
in Community, |
Bruce Davies, and’ Robert Kelley;
star badge to Marshall Rumbaugh.
The year pins were also pre-
sented as follows: 4 years, Larry
