vacation in Miami, Fla., where she
visited Mrs. Marvin Baker. While
there she took a boat cruise to
Nassau ‘in the Bahamas, with Mrs.

has returned after spending a month
in Orlando, Fla., with her son and
daughter-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Ed-
win Burke and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Allen Stewart are
enjoying a vacation in Florida.
Lyle Slaff has been named to the
committee in charge of the 1962
crusade of Luzerne County Unit,
American Cancer Society.

patient in General Hospital several

We were glad that the x-rays
showed no broken bones in Cath-
erine’s beautifully colored elbow.
It is a sprain bad enough for a
sling and abstinence from her usual
manual occupations. And when the
compassion of our neighbor Jean
Emanuel prompted her to bring up
a nice coffee cake) we were all ap-
preciative of that. Ruth has been
busy helping Cathy soak her elbow
in hot epsom salt water and the
elbow is improving. Tuffy can't
understand why his favorite play-
mate can’t let him leap on her
lap and play.
John Jenkins stopped by the ote:
day to tell me about some changes
he and wife Marilyn Lewis Jenkins
are about to make. They are through
at Washington and John is going
to Newport, R. I. for some refresher
course in Naval Justice. Later they
will be moving to Boston.
Last Friday 1 went to Meshop-
pen to assist the Methodist pastor
at the funeral of Mrs. Vangie Farr,
the mother of that high altitude
refueling flier I wrote about paying
me a visit a few weeks ago. Mrs.
Farr, although a cripple for many
years was an active worker in the
Russell Hill Church. She passed
away quietly last Tuesday.
Mrs. Jean Hronich has been ill
recently following an allergic reac-
tion to anti-tetanus serum. She is,
however, on the mend.
When we got to church Sunday
morning Wesley Lewis was waving
everybody around back, indicating
that church would be held in the
Sunday School room dowmstairs.
We heard the fourth in the Revela-
tion series under the low ceiling
of the Sunday School room. It
was, as is this whole series, an en-
lightening and clarifying sermon
on the book that many don’t read
because they can’t understand it.
What is happening upstairs is a
renewing of the ceiling and walls
of the sanctuary. ‘That picture”
which I wrote about last week
week is safely protected by a cover-

Redwings At Feeder
Redwing blackbirds, a pair, have
been at the William A. Austin bird
feeding station in Beaumont all
winter says Mrs. Austin. Attracted
by the little brook, the bare spot
on the ground, swept clear of snow
to expose the necessary grit, and
