Has New Assignment
Airman First Class Daniel Vanec-
ko, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen
Vanecko, S. Memorial Highway, has
been assigned to Altus Air Force
Base in Oklahoma. Daniel was. re-
| cently graduated from a technical
training course in missiles at Shep-
pard Air Force Base in Texas. He is
a graduate of Westmoreland High
School.

Shavertown
Well -it has happened. After
doing our best to get a phone
number installed in the automatic
thoughts of friends and relatives,
a familiar yellow telephone truck
stopped in front of our residence
to allow the lineman to tell us that
after months and months of wait-
ing—we were now able to have a
private line. Of course, there had to
be one hitch. “We are sorry but
you cannot retain your old number.”

Mrs. Michael Caffrey, Corner Div-
ision and Lehigh Streets, has been
a medical patient in Nesbitt Hos-
pital for a week. While Kay is
being treated, her mother, Mrs. Sad-
vary, Wilkes-Barre, is keeping the
home fires burning and the three
Caffrey ‘children content. Michael
Caffrey, employee of Commonwealth
Telephone Company, has been a
victim of the virus and confined
to his bed at home.

cause of illness.

spending a week visiting Mrs. Shep-

Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Davis, Jr.,
former residents of Shavertown, now
of Tunkhannock, announce the birth
of their first child, a son. The
baby weighed in at 8 lbs. 7 ozs. on
February 10. Stanley is employed
by Commonwealth Telephone Comp-
any in Tunkhannock. Mrs. Davis,
the former Marily Covert of King-
ston, and the baby are doing just
fine.
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Beisel, E.
Franklin Street, entertained at a
family dinner Sunday honoring their
daughter, Kathie, who celebrated
her tenth birthday. Beside the host

Mr. and Mrs. John J. Anuskiew-
icz, Division Street, will celebrate
their fifteenth wedding anniversary
on Saturday. The Anuskiewiczs’ were
married in St. Cyril Methodist
Church, Edwardsville, by Rev. Pods-
koch, since deceased. They are the
parents of a very lively son, John
Jr., 7. Mrs. Anuskiewicz is the
former Irene Pekerosky of Edwards-
ville,
Mr. and Mrs. Willard Puterbaugh,
Muncy, visited at the home of Mr.
Puterbaugh’s parents on Mt. Airy
Road over the week-end.
Cecil Poynton, Shaver Avenue,
was brought home in the Kingston
Township Ambulance on Monday
from General Hospital.

The name of Burl Updyke, Cub
Master of Troop 444, was inad-
vertently omitted fram the list of
those attending the Pack Meeting
which was held on January 30, at
the Church of Christ, Sweet Valley.
In February the Blue and Gold
Banquet will be held on the regular
Pack Meeting night, February 27, at
the Maple Grove Methodist Church,
Pikes Creek. There will be a meet-
ing of the Troop Committee on
Monday evening, [February 19, at
the Church of Christ.
Mrs. George Haines submitted to
oral surgery to correct an ear infec-
tion last week, at Geisinger Hos-
pital. Mr. Haines has been ill with
a virus.
Bill Day, a member of the eighth
grade at Lehman observed his
birthday last week.
Cathy Martin was confined to her
home last week with a cold.
Mr. and Mrs. George Wesley, Jr.
and daughters, Penni, LeAnn and
LuRae, have purchased and moved
into the former Earl White home on
North Lake Road.
Mrs. Elizabeth Quoss had as din-
ner guests last Thursday, Mr. and
Mrs. Delbert Meade, and the for-
mer’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Corey
Meade, Idetown.
Linda Hagenbaugh entertained
friends at a toboggan party on Mon-
day. Attending were Linda Baker,

their home for the past week with
flu. They received word this week
of the birth of twin boys born at
Mercy Hospital to their nephew and

avage is the former Delores Mih-
neski, Glen Lyon. They have an-
other child, Debra, aged two.
Mrs. Harry Evarts recently enter-
tained at dinner honoring her hus-
band who observed his birthday on

and herd of Black Angus cattle.

William Race, entered General
Hospital on Sunday and submitted
to major surgery on Wednesday
morning. His condition is good.
Mrs. Joseph Mollahan and daugh-
ter Janet, left on Thursday to join
her husband, stationed at Frankfort,
Germany. She has been visiting
her parents Mr. and Mrs. Ronald
Fielding since July.
