ents at the Mercy Hospital School
of Nurses, Scranton, spent the week-
end at the Retreat Home of Our
Lady of the Villa at the Poconos,
Mt. Pocono.
. Mrs. Clarence Boston, Swarth-
more spent the weekend with her
brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs Howard W. Risley, Huntsville
Road.
Mrs. Vivian Rinken has been con-
fined to her home at Idetown with
the flu this week.
Harry Post, Cliffside, Trucksville,
is Ql ill at his home.

Road, was painfully bruised on Fri-
day, when her car overturned on
,a patch of ice on Chase Road.
~ Captain and Mrs. Charles Scog-
gins, on the way to a new assign-
ment with the Air Force, spent the
weekend with Mr. and Mrs. T.M.B.
Hicks, Pioneer Avenue en route
from Boulder, Colorado to Boston.
The two older children, Scotty and
Dickie, are spending a week with
their grandparents. at the Hicks
household, while their parents
househunt. -
Mrs, Harry E. Freeman, 62 Shav-
er Avenue, spending the winter in
Clearwater, Florida with Mrs. B. H.
‘Erscchel, 791 Bay Shore Boulevard,
was admitted to the Morton Paint
Hospital for surgery on Friday. Her
- hospital address is Jeffords Street,
‘Clearwater, Florida.
. The name of Frank Harvey, Dal-
las, and of Mrs. Payne Elston, Al-
bany, N. Y. brother and sister of
O. L. Harvey, were inadvertently
omitted from the account of the
latter's eightieth birthday celebra-
tion and ‘the listing of his close
relatives.

eisinger Medical Center where she
is submitting to tests.
- “Ed McDade, popular mail carrier
for Dallas Borough, has been con-
fined to his home on Sunset Ave-
nue with a virus.
Ms. Earl King, 120 E. Center
Street, Shavertown, is a patient at
General Hospital where she sub-
mitted to surgery for the third time
within a year.
Mr. and Mrs. Raymon Hedden,
Loyalville. returned from a ten day
vacation in Arizona on Sunday.
They flew both ways.

Orchard St., Trucksville, have an-
nounced the birth of a baby boy,
Louis Watres, at Nesbitt Hospital
on January 27. Mrs, Jones is the
former Nancy Coon, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. John Coon of Trucks-
ville,
Mr. and Mrs. James Kozemchak,
Huntsville, will celebrate their twen-
ty-first wedding anniversary quietly |
at their home on February 3.

Ann Wasnick of Wilkes-Barre, “best
pie baker in the world,” says Jim.
Jim is son of Mrs. Rose Kozem-
chak, Overbrook Road, and the late
Roman Kozemchak., He is employed
by the Hazard Wire Rope Works
and is a professional photographer
on the side. ’
There are three children: Elaine,
member of the Junior Class at
Wilkes College where she is major-
ing in art; Jimmy, aboard the USS
Wyandotte where he is ship photo-
grapher and David, seventh grade
student at Dallas Junior High

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Miller, Dal-
las R. D. 1, have announced the
birth of a daughter at General Hos-
pital on January 26.
Miss! Brenda Clause, Pioneer
Avenue, Shavertown spent the
weekend in Long Island, ' N. Y.
where she visited her cousin, Sally
Pierson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
George Pierson.
While there they saw the Broad-
way Play “The Unsinkable Mollie
Brown” and Radio City Music Hall.
Mrs. Louis Cottle, formerly of
Shavertown, has been a patient at
Nesbitt Hospital for six weeks. On
the critical list during the holidays,
she is now improving slowly, and
expects to return to her home in
Forty Fort within the near future.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Coolbaugh,
Beaumont, have returned to their
home after spending the past month
in Florida.
. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Kibbler,
Noxen, operators of Art's Produce
Stand, Dallas Highway, will leave
this week to drive to California
where they will visit their son,
a theological student.
Mrs. Burton E. Steltz is recu-
‘perating at her home, Pikes Creek,
after being a Medical patient in the
General Hospital for six weeks. Mrs.
Steltz is the former Jennie Meeker.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Mitchell,
Dallas R. D. 1, have announced the
birth of a baby boy at Nesbitt Hos-
pital on January 23.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Frantz, Brook
Street, entertained at a dinner
Sunday. The following guests were
present: Mr. and Mrs. W. Tworek
and daughter Irene, Sweet Valley;
Mr, and Mrs. William Frederick,
Sharon, Buddy K and Wayne, Mrs.
Lilian Kunkle, Shavertown; Mr. and

Mr. and Mrs. Glen Beeman, Rush-
ville, were recent visitors at the
Frank Garris home, Main Highway.

The double ring ceremony:
was performed by Rev. P. Kirkley in
Glen Burnie Methodist Church, Glen
Burnie, Md., on December 30, 3 p.m.
Escorted by her father, the bride
wore imported ballerina length
gown of Chantilly lace over tulle,
designed with fitted bodice featur-
ing long tapered sleeves and round
neckline. Her veil of imported. illu-
sion fell from a tiara of seed pearls
and she carried a bouquet of white
roses.
Matron of honor was Patricia
Hayes, classmate of the bride. She
chose blue taffeta dress, matching
accessories and carried a spray of
blue and white pompons. Mother
of the bride selected dress of beige
lace, matching accessories and
shoulder bouquet of yellow rose
buds, and Mrs. Beck, mother of the
| bridegroom, rose beige lace dress,
| matching accessories and yellow
| roses, Hey
| Best man’ was Russell Beck and
| ushers, Robert and Gordon Beck; all
brothers of ‘the bridegroom.
Following the ceremony, a recep-
tion was held at Colony 7 Inn after
which the couple left for New York
City. ;
Mrs. Beck is a graduate of Palm
Beach High School, West Palm
| Beach, Fla. She attended Patricia
| Stevens Career College and Finish-
ing School in Denver, Colorado. Mr.
Beck is a’ graduate of Kingston
Township High School, Wilkes Col-
lege and Pennsylvania State Univer-
sity "where he received his Bachelor
of Science Degree in chemical
engineering. He is employed as
senior project engineer with Air
Products Inc., Allentown, Both Mr.
and Mrs. Beck recently returned
from Italy.
The couple resides at Bethlehem.

Carol's father, who is employed in

Lake Students Enter
Vogue Sewing Contest
Students of Lake School partici- ||
pating in the Fifth Annual Vogue
Sewing Contest are Marlene Patton,
Sharyn Montross, Marquerite Hack-
ling, Bonnie Gennetts, Irene Wolfe
and Rose Marie Jones. This compé-
tition has been approved by the
National Association of Secondary-
School Principals. It is sponsored
locally by the Harveys Lake Wom-
an’s Service Club; Mrs. Mildred
Scruitsky, home economics teach-
er, is advisor.
The contest runs from October
1961 to May 1962.. The object is to
| select the ideal dress-up costume
| for the high school student. Judg-
ing is by qualified individuals at
local, district,
levels. A variety of prizes are
awarded by Vogue Pattern Service
including a $5.00 prize for the local
winner. Top prize is a $1,000 Schol-
arship to the student, $500 to the
sponsoring club, and $500 to the
school.
Mrs. Scruitsky reports that the
garments will be ready: for model-
ing during the later part of March.
