PENNSYLVANIA Annual Christmas Hikers Find Moderate Temperatures Yesterday Yesterday was the day of days for Huntsville Christian Sunday - School and its annual Winter Wond- erland hike led by Rev. Charles Frick. Last year, intrepid hikers bat- tled a 20 degree below zero temper- ature honed to a sharp edge by a . keen wind. This year, it was just on the edge of freezing, with a heavy blanket of snow underfoot for the climb to the cave and the bonfire. Rev. Frick, Bob Jones, and Si Evans got the logs blazing at 7 a.m. 5 by 9:30 hungry young people started up the trail. Cars took pro- ! visions for the cookout as far as possible, then food was parcelled out among the hikers for the steep haul. Hot cocoa and hot dogs were the mainstay, youngsters falling on the hot food after rolling like puppies in the loose snow. Trailers are recruited from the junior division upward. Smaller children enjoy a party in the church parlors. In advance of Christmas, Chi Rho Class visited Huntsville and Lehman convalescent homes with music. Rev. Frick’s Christmas hike has been a feature of the holidays for years.
