Christmas Music Tonight By Chorus
And Band, Dallas Senior High School
A program of Christmas music
will be presented by the Dallas
Senior High School band and chor-
us tonight at 8 in the senior high
school auditorium. An interesting
program of both sacred and secu-
lar music will be given.
The senior high school band will |
play several numbers that capture
the Christmas spirit. One number
entitled “The Christmas Suite”
comes in 5 sections — O, Come Im-
manual, The Christ Child, Green-
sleeves, What Child is this? and
The Twelve Days of Christmas, also
a medley of favorite Christmas
tunes and Winterwonderland.
The 50 member girls chorus will
sing their first program of the year.
Some of their numbers are A
Medley of Christmas Carols, Ave
Maria, Blessed Holy Night, Drum-
mer Boy and Silver Bells. Featured
in various ensembles are these girls:
Betty Jean Davis, Sally Moyer,
Nancy Sieber, Marjorie Baird, Bar-
bara Tag, Judy Williams Glenda
Williams, Alfrieda Heft, Gloria Dol-
bear, Ruth Ann Scott, Barbara
Mickolachic, Elsa Orchard, Louise
Hadsall,
Both before and after the pro-
gram Richard Ratcliffe and Dorothy
Eck will play Christmas music on
the organ. A trumpet trio will play
several Christmas tunes. Members
Request Grant
For Master Plan
Kingston Township, has just sub-
mitted applications to the Housing
and Home Finance Agency for ur-
ban planning assistance grants to
help prepare comprehensive plans,
and developmental controls, The
Federal Government will pay three-
quarters of the cost of doing the
! work,
The request suggusts that Luzerne
County Planning Commission help |
with the technical work involved.
Plans will be prepared including
land use, schools, recreation areas,
utilities and major roads. Zoning
ordinances and other controls, based
on these plans, will be developed.
With sanitary landfills, trailer
parks, and other uses, looking for
new locations in the boroughs and
townships of Luzerne County, many
municipalities are beginning to
realize that controls on land use
are needed. Each use proposed
could be located where it would
be least objectionable to surround-
ing residents, and conditions could
be imposed such as landscaping,
enclosing with a solid fence, set-
backs away from lot lines, off-
street parking, and recreation areas.
Master or comprehensive plan-
ning is needed before slum clear-
ance, rehabilitation or conservation
urban renewal projects will be
accepted by the Federal Govern-
ment.
