Dies After Illness
A. Donald Anderson, 50, died |
Wednesday morning at his home |
in Meadowcrest following an ill-
ness of several months. He was
buried Saturday afternoon from the
Hugh B. Hughes Funeral Home in
Forty Fort, Rev. Robert E. Germond
officiating.
Son of the late Elmer and Pearl
| Atherholt Anderson, he was born
in Luzerne... He moved to Trucks-
| ville in 1935, and joined Trucksville
Methodist Church, where he served
on the official
| closing of the Payne Coal Company
| colliery in Exeter where he had
been employed for fourteen years,

Dies On Trip
Has Heart Attack

N.C. George C. Gregson, 77,
fered a fatal heart attack in
Frederick, Maryland, Saturday after-
noon,

at Houston, Tex. Mr. Gregson joined

Company, in 1925 and came
| Wilkes-Barre as manager when it
took over the Hazard Rope Works
plant. In addition, he had charge

| dist Church before burial services

Methodist. Interment was at Mem-
arial Shrine.
Mr. Mintzer, 78, suffered a stroke
| three weeks To his death early
Monday morning at Nesbitt Hos- |
pital. Up until that time, he had
been in apparent good health, de-
| lighted at being able to move back
| into the home on Rice Street, where |
He is survived by his widow. the
former Emma Steinhauer of Wilkes- |
he and his wife had lived for many

He had lived in Dallas for forty-
five years.
He was born at Mt Yeager, son
of the late Wolfgang and Sarah
Wenner Mintzer.
Surviving are: his widow, the
former Minnie Coleman; two daugh-
ters: Mrs. Sarah Chapin of Beau-
| mont, and Mrs. Charlotte Davie of
Skinner's Eddy, wife of Rev. Davis,
Methodist minister in that area; a
| son Leamon, ‘Dallas; four grand-
| children and two greatgrandchildren;
| two brothers: Daniel of New York
| City and Samuel of Schnecksville.

| Troy, N. Y., for the manufacture of |
| ship telegioph systems.
He moved with his family to
| Shrine View from New Jersey in
11932. From 1927 to 1932, Mr. Greg-
| son headed both the Newark, N. J,,
and Wilkes-Barre plants.
|" Since his retirement he has been
hiking through the Back Mountain
region with his dogs. He was a |
well-known outdoorsman and was
proficient in golf. The last: disting-
uishment is his membership in the
Seniors, a national golfing associa-
tion.
In 1936, Mr. Gregson was appoint-
ed by State Chamber of Commerce
to a special committee studying the
Social Security Act. He filled a vac-
ancy n 1946 on ‘the board of Sec-
{ond National Bank, Wilkes-Barre,
| caused by the death of Col. Ernest
G. Smith. Mr. Gregson also served
‘as a director of Nesbitt Memorial
| of Commerce.
| A former director in Dallas Town-
| ship School District, he was active
lin Wyomng Valley Chapter, Amer-
| ican Red Cross and the Community
Chest. Besides his affihation in Ma-
sonic bodies, Mr. Gregson ‘was act-
ive’ with the Westmoreland Club,
Wyoming Valley Club, Irem Temple
Country Club and Balturosol Coun-
try Club in N. J.
He was a member of Grace Epis-
copal Church, Kingston.
Surviving in addition to his .wid-
ow are a son, John V., associated
with Massachusetts Mutual = Life
Insurance Company at Fairfield,
Conn.; daughters, Betty and Agnes,
at home; sister, Mrs. Rebecca Gun-
ther, Troy, N. Y.
Private funeral services were
conducted from the Williams Funer-
al Home on Tuesday, Rev. Lyle E.
Scott and Rev. Ralph A. Weatherly,
present and retired recors of Grace
Episcopal Church. officiating. Burial |
was at Maple. Hill.

Bt Convalescent Homes
Three groups of Intermediate
MYF from Dallas Methodist Church
visited convalescent homes in the
immediate area Sunday night, to
sing carols and hold a short service.
Everywhere they were welcomed,
and guests asked for more and more
old hymn favorites as well as Christ-
mas carols.
. Next Sunday night, the Senior
MYF will separate into groups and
visit convalescent homes.

Boys And Girls Invited
To Join Bible Club
A Bible Club for boys ‘and girls
is being held each Thursday after-
noon from 4:15 to 5:15 at the Shav-
ertown Bible Church. All boys and
girls are welcome and will have
fun learning new songs and bible
verses and having opportunities to
win prizes. They will hear exciting
Missionary stories and stories from
the Bible pictured on the flannel
graph board. Bible Club is interde-
nominational and has its headquart-
ers in Philadelphia. Parents are wel-
come to observe at any time.

Mrs. Hannah Case, 76.
Lies At Cedar Crest
Mrs. Hannah Genet Case, 76,
died Thursday night at the home of
her daughter, Mrs. Sherman Kun-
kle, in Sweet Valley. Mrs. Case had
been in failing health ever since
breaking her hip five years ago, an
accident which precipitated the
move from her home in Trucksville
to that of her daughter.
A few months later, her husband,
Stanley. L. Case. died. The couple
had celebrated the Golden Wedding
in 1955. : :
Mrs, Case | was buried Monday
afternoon at Cedar Crest, Rev.
Robert E. Germond officiating from
the Bronson Funeral Home,
Born in Lehman, the former Han-
nah Mekeel was daughter of the
late Thomas D. and Rebecca Meeker
Mekeel. Living for thirty-three
years in Trucksville, she was a
member of Trucksville Methodist
Church, and active in its organiza-
tions, WSCS and Reynolds Bible
Class, She was a life member of
Wilkes-Barre Chapter 90, Order of
Eastern Star.
Surviving in addition to her
daughter Betty Kunkle, are two
sons: Pred, of Trucksville, and
‘Glenn, Dallas; four grandchildren
and three greatgrandchildren; a
sister, Mrs. Russel Cease, Shaver-
town; three brothers: Harry, Pitts-
burgh; Oliver, Succasunna, N. J;
| Ralph, Eau Gallie, Florida.
