Was Noxen Resident
Wilce R. Thompson, Noxen, was
buried Tuesday afternoon in Lehman
Cemetery, Rev. John Gordon con-
ducting services from the Bronson
Funeral Home. -
Mr. Thompson, 60, had been a
patient for two weeks at General
Hospital, where he died Saturday
at noon. He had been in ill health
for some time.
He was a native of Susquehanna
County, son of the late Harry and
Frances Dennis Thompson. For a
time, he worked at: Mosier’s Dairy.
He is survived by his widow, the
former Verna Sites; two sons: Har-
ry, of Dallas, and Elwood, Edwards-
ville; one grandchild; two sisters:
Nis. Vivian Hilbert, Harrisburg; and
Mrs. Carmella Slater, Pine Grove,
. N. Y.; brothers: Wesley, of Plym-
outh; Francis, Noxen.

Pioneer Girls of Shavertown Bible
Church held a Progressive supper
at the homes of Mrs. Dayton Gar-
nett, Plymouth, and Mrs. Ernest
Bell, Shavertown, November 21.
Speaker was Mrs. Russell Ed-
mondson.

Sheldon Fitzgerald
Dies At General
Sheldon Charles Fitzgerald, 45,
long-time resident of the Harveys
Lake area, died Friday night at Gen-
eral Hospital where he had been
admitted three days earlier.
He was buried Monday afternoon
in Marsh Cemetery, following ser-
vices conducted by Rev. F. L.
Strength, pastor of Evangelical Tem-
ple, Kingston, of which Mt. Fritz-
zerald was. a member, and Sunday
School superintendent.
He was a foreman at the Tele-
Radio Engineering Corporation in
Georgetown.
He was born in Philadelphia, son
of the late Mr. and Mrs. Howard
Fritzgerald of Fernbrook.
Surviving ane: his widow, the
former Pearl Nulton of Center More-
land; five children, Jean, Charles,
Gloria, Deborah and Norman, all at
home; two brothers, Ralph of Dallas
and Norman, Wilken-Barre; two sis-
ters, Mrs. Richard Seymour, Dallas;
and Mrs. Marshal Palmer, Alexan-
dria, Virginia.
| Little Carl Lee Marsh
Was 18 Months Old
An eighteen months old baby with
curly blonde hair was buried Thurs-
day in Maple Grove Cemetery. Little
Carl Lee Marsh, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Fred Marsh, Sweet Valley, had
attended ‘Sunday School at Maple
Grove Methodist Church ever since
he was six months old.
November 28, he died. Rev. James
Garrahan conducted services from
he Bronson Funeral Home.
Lose Baby Boy
Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Marsh,
Hunlock Creek RD, lost a seventeen
month old baby boy Tuesday even-
ing. Karl Lee Marsh had been ill
for some time. Burial was last
Thursday at Maple Grove, from the
Bronson ' Funeral Home. g
There are four other children,
George, Frederick, Darla and Kathy.
Grandparents are Mrs. Catherins
March, Eric Weber, and Mrs. Mae
Swingle.
Shavertown PTA To Meet
The Shavertown Elementary Par-
ent Teachers Association will meet
on Monday evening, December 18,
1961 at the Grade School at 8:15
p.m. Teachers will be in their home-
rooms at 8:00 p.m. to meet with
parents. Mrs. John M. Rogers will
preside at the business meeting.
Lester W. Hauck, architect, will
be guest speaker, basing his talk on
“Inspiration, the Mother of Educa-
tion”. Mr. Hauck’s talk will be
illustrated by colored slides from
travels in the United States. ..and
Europe.

Solemn High Mass For.
Bolish Gardecki
A solemn high mass of requiem
was celebrated last Wednesday
morning at St. Joseph's Church,
Nanticoke, for Bolish Gardecki of
Chase Road, who died at his home
Sunday night, aged 62. Burial was
in the parish cemetery.
Mr. Gardecki, resident of Jack-
son Township for forty years, had
ritis fifteen years ago. He was a
former supervisor of Jackson Town-
ship, and a member of St. Joseph’s
Church in Nanticoke. He was a nat-
ive of Nanticoke, son of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gardecki.
He is survived by his widow. the
former Margaret Sabol of Nanticoke;
at home; a daughter Mrs. Adam
Coffee Jr., West Nanticoke; a sis-
ter, Mrs. Russell Gearhart, Allen-
town, and a brother Adam, Wilkes-
Barre. :

Greatgrandfather Dies
Greatgrandson Born
| A Pikes Creek man died, and his
| greatgrandson was born, on the
same day. Henry B. Swire, 79,
passed away Tuesday afternoon at
the home of his daughter, Mrs.
Louis Kiyttle,” Pikes Creek. His
greatgrandson, Richard William
Christian, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dale
Christian of East Stroudsburg, was
born a few hours earlier at General
| Hospital.
| Mr. Swire, until three weeks ago,
| was building his home, and appar-
ently im perfect health. On ‘October
23, he enjoyed his birthday cele-
bration, an open house for: his
many friends at Loyalville Church
| Hall. On his 78th birthday, a year
| ago, he had as a birthday present
| a greatgrandson, Thomas Richard
| Swire. The fall season is a mo-
| mentous one for the Swires. A year
| ago, Henry's son Isaac suffered a
| heart attack the first day of deer
| season.
| Mr. Swire was born in Nebraska,
son of the late Thomas and Char-
lotta King Swire. He lived in Lake
Township most of his life. He be-
| longed to’ Sweet Valley Church of
| Christ. His wife Clara died in 1952.
Some years ago, Mr. Swire drove
a school bus for Lake Township.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs
Kyttle; a son, Isaac, Pikes Creek:
seven grandchildren and seven
great grandchildren; brother and
sisters; Thomas L. Mrs. Edith
Steltz, Sr., Mrs. Vesta Boston, all of
Loyalville; Mrs. Emily Scott and
| Mrs, Martha Culp, Dallas; Mrs.
Myrtle Boston. Berwick; Mrs. Cassie
Decker, Jonestown; George. Shick-
shinny, RD., and Mrs. Carrie Hum-
mell, Harveys Lake.
Services are scheduled for Satur-
day from the Bronson Funeral
Home, with burial at Maple Grove,
Rev: Charles Frick and Rev. William
Hughes officiating. Friends may call
tonight and Friday, 7 to 10.
