Lake Woman's Service Club Welcomes 7 New Members Harveys Lake Women's Service Club initiated seven new members at a recent dinner meeting held at Q’Connell’s Twin-Lakes. The candlelight ceremony was con- ducted by Mrs. Ralph Lutes, mem- bership chairman, and was followed by a turkey dinner. Arrangements were made by Mrs. Rowland Ritts. Mrs. Mildred Scruitsky was special guest for the evening. As teacher of Home Economics at the Lake School, she will act as advisor to students entering the Vogue | Sewing Contest. The Club will furnish a prize at the local level, enter the District judging. Prizes at’ District, State and National levels are furnished by Vogue Pattern Company. Club members may enter in the Clubwoman Division of the contest. A new health project designed to encourage every member to have a c¢omplete physical check-up has been adopted with Mrs. Edward Gulitus as chairman. The project ig known as “Conquer Uterine Can- cer” and is sponsored by the Ameri- can . Cancer Society and the Gen- eral Federation of Women’s Clubs. Work on the annual Christmas project has begun. Each year toys, homemade cookies and canned foods are donated by members. Our aged and shut-ins are remembered with Cheer-Boxes, and well stocked Food-Boxes are sent to needy fami- lies.
