~ Howard Derby, 48
Services for Howard Derby, Dal-
las RD 1, will be held tomorrow at
2 from the Nulton Funeral Home,
Rev, Robert Wood, pastor of Nichol-
son! Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Orcutt Cemetery.
Mr. Derby, 48, a patient for the past
. four years at Dickson State Hospital,
South Mountain, died there Tuesday
morning.
Born at Evans Falls, he was son
of the late Daniel and Ida Moss
Derby.
Surviving are: his widow, the for-
mer Mildred Heist, of West Wyom-
Ing; these children: Mrs. Charles
Cobb; Nicholson; Helen, Walter,
Dawn, Rita, all at home; four step-
children: Mre. Robert Powell, Swoy-
erville s Jerry, Daniel, Grace and
Donald Donovan, at home; sisters,
Mrs. Mart Cook, Towanda; and Mra.
Wilbur Crispell, Odessa, N. Y.; a
; brother Wheeler, Buck Hill Falls.

scheduled for November 15 at Leh-
men in the school gymnasium. Lake
and Lehman Townships invite Jack-

Has Fatal Heart Attack
Funeral services for Roland L.
Kester, Shavertown, were con-
ducted Friday afternoon from the
home by Rev. Louis Falk. Burial
was in Cedar Crest.
Mr. Kester, 61, suffered a heart
attack Tuesday night at his home.
A previous attack caused his * re-
tirement five years ago from Penn-
sylvania Power and Light Co.
He was born in Shenandoah, son
of the late Edward and Ann Simon-
son Kester. During a twenty year
residence in Courtdale, he served
several terms on the school board.
He moved to Shavertown twelve
years ago, occupying with his wife |
an apartment on the second floor
of the home of his daughter, Mrs.
Andrew Novy.
He was a member of First Baptist
| Church, Kingston, end its Sunday
School.
Surviving are: his widow, the
former Rachel Weidner, Luzerne;
three children: Mrs. Anthony Novy,
Shavertown; Edward, Newark, Del.;
Roland Jr., New Castle, Del; two
grandcHildren; a sister, Mrs. Ruth
Smith, Camden, N. J.

The Shavertown M.YF. has
planned a hay-ride on Thursday,
October 25th. Members and
guests will meet at the church at
6:45. Transportation will not be
provided.
Missionary Speaker
. HOWARD W. YODER
Rev. Howard W. Yoder will
speak at Shavertown Methodist
Church on Missions Sunday, both
at the 11 am. Worship Service
October 29, and at the Family
Night Supper Sunday at 5 pm.
In 1929, Mr. and Mrs. Yoder
went to South America, serving
with the Methodist Board of Mis-
sions. Dr. Yoder was principal of
Colegio Andino in Huamicayo; La
Escuela America in Lima; the
Pan-American Institute in [Pan-
ama City; and the American Insti-
tute in‘I.a Paz. Since 1948; he has

been superintendent of Methodist
Schools in Latin American Cen-
tral Conference.
In addition to his other rowan:

Church. He took his LIL.D. degree
in 1951.
