: Mr. Mundy, only 52, was a fam-
iliar . political * figure. in the Back
Mountain; active as president of the
Democratic party and casting his
lot with the Republicans during the
1958 campaign, when he headed
the “Democrats for McGonigle”
movement,
In the 1957 primaries, he polled
tory as an independent Democrat
in the race for Prothonotary.
Residents of Shavertown will long
remember Mr. Mundy’s spectacular

Warren R. Long
‘Warren R. Long, 60, for the past
thirty-four years a resident of Shav-
ertown, died Tuesday morning at
Mercy Hospital where he had been
a patient since August 21.
Services were ‘held Friday from
the Williams Funeral Home, Rev.
Robert .D. Yost officiating. Burial
was in Cherry Grove Cemetery at
Nordmont. .
Son of the late William and Anna
Young Long, he was born at Unity-
ville, settling later in Wilkes-Barre.
For thirty-one years, until retire-
ment in 1959, he was maintenance
man for Wilkes-Barre Transit Co.
Surviving are his ‘wife, the former
Florencec Small of: Kingston; sons,
William, Dallas; Robert, at. home,
and a daughter, Mrs. Donald Kint-
ner, Trieckers, Pa.; a brother, Bam-
uel, Muncy; | sisters. Miss 'Mary
Long Baltimore, - and Mrs. + Edith
Caffrey, Wilkes-Barre, = and five
grandchildren. :

hepatitis, Arthur Harrison, 51, of
Atlantic City an Dallas, died Friday |
after a month's illness at a hos- |
pital in Atlantic City.
Services were conducted Tesdal
by Rev. Thomas Davis from the |

by Shickshinny Masonic Lodge. Bur- |
ial was at Maple Grove. {
Pallbearers were nephews: Walt- |
ter, Robert, Eugene, Burton, and
Charles Gordon, and Homer Baker.
Since 1948 Mr. Harrison oper-
ated the Koegler Hotel in Atlantic
City. Prior to, that, he taught school
at Lake and Lehman Township.
He was born in Forty-Fort, son
of the late Sam and Emma Baines
Harrison, His wife is the former
Thelma ‘Gordon of Pikes Creek, also
a former school teacher in Lake
Township. ;
He leaves his widow; ‘a son Rich-
ard; two grandchildren, all of At-
lanti¢ City; brothers: Raymond,
Wyoming State; Stanley, Sweet Val-
ley; ‘George, ‘Williamsport; - sisters:

John Anderson, 84, a veteran of |
the - Spanish Ameriéan War, died |
Saturday morning at Veterans Hos-
pital, where he had been a- patient |
for four weeks.
He was buried at Fern 'Knoll
Monday afternoon, following serv-
ices conducted by Rev. James A.
Cara from the Williams Funeral
Home.
Mr.- Anderson, a resident of this
community since 1913, was tax col-
lector of Dallas Township for a term,
1926 to 1930, was road. supervisor
for six years,’ and was township
auditor.
A native of Kingston, son of the |
late John and Mary. Gibler Ander-
son, he was employed for many
| years by the Lehigh and Wilkes- |
Barre ‘Coal Co. and by Duplan.
He is survived by his widow, the
former Sarah Driesbach of Wilkes- |
Barre; three sons: Arthur, of Oak |
‘Hill; Harold, Pittsburgh; and John |
Jr., Dallas; seven grandechildren and |
ten greatgrardchildren. : 3
