THE MOST IMPORTANT ADVANCE IN TIRE DESIGN IN 17 YEARS!

ends buckling,
chief cause of tire wear
Revolutionary three-rib tread design makes the difference!
z
Note this MC-70 tire print, showing
three-rib tread design. Fewer ribs
than in ordinary tires means more
tread strength and rigidity ....no
buckling in the center of the tread
under normal driving. Result: more
rubber on the road, better grip, even
‘wear, fonger tread life.
Note how ordinary tread, weaken-
ed by 5 to 7 ribs, tends to buckle
in the center,

MISS SEVENTEEN
On August ' 23, Miss Elfrieda
| Hefrt, a senior at Dallas, was
chosen as Miss Seventeen by repre-
sentatives from Lazarus store at
Irem Temple in Wilkes-Barre. She
| was in competition with 25 other
| girls from Wyoming Valley.
As Miss Seventeen she was
| awarded a Back-to-School ward-
robe, 1% dozen red roses, a Toby
Coburn Scholarship and she will be
| on the cover of the January issue
of Seventeen magazine.
KEYETTE NEWS
The Keyettes are very proud of a
member of the team, Elfrieda Hef-
ft, who was chosen as Miss Seven-
teen by Lazarus at the Trem Tem-
August 23. Congratulations,
The Keyettes participated in the
competition at Sayre on Labor Day.
After competition they marched in
the parade where they led the
singing of “Sound-Off” and were
answered by the Key Club and the -
Junior High Drill Team. This went
over very well with the crowd.
We have finished our jackets
which we wore for the first time at -
Sayre. They make our uniforms
_quite snappy. We would like to
thank the girls for making their
own jackets.
On the 9th of September we
marched at Elmira. New York
| where we were in competition- for
a cash prize. We went on the bus
with the Key Club. It was really
fun.
SOPHOMORES
If our school should seem at all
crowded it is due to the large num-
sophomore students who
have come to us from the Junior
| High. This large crowd makes up
seven of the sixteen sections in
school. We certainly welcome
everyone in the sophomore class
and we hope they will have a nice
year at Dallas Senior High School.
CHEERLEADING
Our peppy cheerleaders, under
the leadership of Nancy Elston and
Judy Woolbert, have been practic-
. ng hard for our first football game
' on Saturday.
The squad consists of the two
captains, Sandy Ambrose, Carol
Dungey, Susie Dorrance, Peggy Jor-
dan, Georgia McCutcheon, Carol
Spare, Marjorie Walp, and Glenda
Williams.

! field hockey, tennis, skiing, read-
ing, and photography. Besides
deing all of these things she still
finds time to travel. Some of the
interesting places she has visited
are Belgium, Germany, Luxemburg,
Switzerland, Austria France and
Italy. Not being satisfied in just
visiting there she has learned the
languages of some of the countries.
She speaks English and French
very well, can get along in German,
and of course speaks Dutch. Her
ambition ig te become an interpre-
ter.
We all wish her the best of
everything in pursuing her desired
career. Elsbeth plans to stay in
this area’ until June 30. After that
perhaps more traveling. Who knows
what lies in store for such an am-
bitious and delightful girl. Holland
can be very proud of their charm-
ing representative. We certainly
are.
