: Summer Activities
The two organizations, as active
this summer as they are in winter,
are Future Farmers of America and
the Band.
This year F.F.A. took its fourth
annual summer trip to New York
State, on July 25, 26, 27. :
The first day after leaving Leh-
man, they arrived at Cooperstown
visiting Farmer’s Museum, Base Ball
“Hall of Fame” and attended the
Farmer's Museum Junior Livestock
Show.
From there they left for Waterloo
“and visited points of interest along
‘the way.
Next day they visited - Beacon
Mill in Cayuga; Gould Pumps Inc.,
Seneca Falls; and Jackson and Perk-
in's Rose Gardens in Newark. That
evening they spent a few hours at
Watkins Glen.
The final day they toured Corning
Glass Works, ‘and visited the Grand
Canyon of Pornsylvania at Wells-
boro.
The officers, elected last spring,
are President, Howard Piatt; Vice
. President, Walt Lubinski; Secretary,
. Dean Williams; Treasurer, Henry
Stefanowicz; Reporter, Richard Str-
< oud. The boys enjoyed the trip and
worked hard all summer with their
farming.
Band Was Busy
The Band has been guite busy

spent” last past week with B. B.
Engelman.
Guy Siglin was taken to General
Hospital last Wednesday by Noxen
ambulance.
Rev. and Mrs. Alfred Backus,
Binghamton, N. Y. are spending some
time with Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Fish.
Mr. and Mrs. Philip A. Cum-
mings Jr.
baby girl, Barbara Anielia, born on
Aug. 24th. at Middleset. Hospital,
New Brunswick, N. J. Mrs. Cummings
is the former Verna Smith. This
is their first child. ;
Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Miner spent
last week end with Mr. and Mrs.
Lawrence Miner at Chenango Forks
and with Mr. and Mrs. Claude

on Tuesday to visit their sister, Mrs.
‘ ~ John Hansen and family, Canada-
gua, N. Y. Kathy is staying for
the winter.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ruff Jr. and
Kathie spent the week end with
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ruff Sr. The
Albert Ruff Srs. had a tour of west-
ern Pennsylvania, over the week

Mr. and Mrs. Howard Leibenguth
and family visited the Ray Leiben-
guths on Friday and Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Mead and family, Pough
Keepsie, N. Y., spent severad days
with them this week.
Harold Leibenguth came home
from the General Hospital on Thurs-
day. He had been admitted Sunday
morning following an automobile
accident. His condition is. good.

this summer. Along with picking
out numbers for the spring concert
and practicing for our own foot-
ball games, we are all thrilled about
making the ‘trip to Philadelphia this
Sunday to play at the Eagle-Brown’s
Football Game. It will be nation-
ally televised and we hope that all
our practicing will go toward mak-
ing this show a success.
This summer the band also held
its annual picnic. Band Sponsors
made the arrangements to have it
at Pete Wolfe's Grove. Following
supper, gifts were presented to
Mr. and Mrs. John Milauskas by
the Band and the Band Sponsors.
Everyone had a wonderful time, and
everyone is looking forward to an-
other picnic next year.
Football Suceess
Our team was successful Saturday
by working together, the boys came
out with a 25-2 victory over Nesco-
peck.
Tomorrow evening we face a team
that is. picked to beat us, Forty
Fort. Each year this team has been
an exciting teamj to play. Our games
are always full of action. I'm sure
this year will be no exception.
This is one of two night games.
It will be played on Forty-Fort field
at 7:45. Everyone be sure to come,

time show.

General Hospital by Noxen ambu- |
lance, on Saturday. -
Mr. and Mrs. William Hollos
recently entertained Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph Swick of Fort Worth, Texas,
who vacationed in Noxen, Mr. Swick |
and Mr. Hollos were members of |
the 23rd Regiment, 2nd division
Infantry at Fort Sam Houston,
Texas, durfng World War II. It was |
the - first time for Mr. Swick in
Pennsylvania and eighteen years
since they served together in the
Army.
A daughter of Dr. Pibbins, who
will be remembered by many Noxen
people, called on the Guy Fritzes,
who occupy the same home that the
Tibbin’s did while living here. She
was very interested in seeing her
old home and going through it, and |
noting all the changes that had |
taken place in fifty years, when she
was a girl of seventeen. I am unable
to give her name as there were three
girls and I don’t know whch one
was the visitor. Their names were
Florence, Bessie and Josephine.

spent the weekend with his mother,
Mrs. G. H. Rauch.
William MeKenna returned from
General Hospital on Friday night
after being a medical patient there
for two weeks. His condition is good.

An Indian mound was uncovered

the Richard Cornwell cottage at
Lake Ganoga. Discovered by the

Shavertown Shopping Center. A continuing plan for additional laying of pipelines has been adopted by the Company.
Many sections off the Back Mountain Area, including nu merous housing developments, will be served with Natural
