Sixty-seven leaders of various |
MYF groups in the Wyoming Valley
Methodist ‘Conference gathered for
a weekend workshop at Trucksville
Methodist Church, to train for
Christian Witness Evangelism and
Youth Visitation. They put their
instructions to use, visiting in Shav-
ertown and Trucksville, They were
entertained for the two nights of
their stay at various homes in the
Back Mountain.

Spending last weekend in spir-
itual retreat at Sky Lake were
forty-nine young people of Dallas
Methodist Church, accompanied by
their advisors and joined on Sun-

Is Called By Death
| Thomas A. Bonham, 81, died at
| his home in Oakdale Friday morn-
| ing. after several months of grad-|
| ually failing health. He was buried
{in Oakdale Cemetery Monday after-
| mooh. following services conducted
| by Rev. Oscar W. Saxe from the
| Bronson Funeral Home.
| Mr. Bonham was widely connect-
led in the Sweet Valley and Hun-
lock Creek area. He was born at
| Tockville, Wvoming County. son of
the late Ralph and Elizabeth Mon-
{tanye Bonham, and lived at Oak-
| dale for the past forty years.
| A carpenter. he had been asso-
| ciated with his broter, Carles, in
| te construction brsiness. He was
{a trustee of Oakdale Metodist
| Church, also the treasurer and
| member of the official board. For
| many years he taught a Sunday
School class, and had also served as
snnerintendent.

Kenneth, entering as a freshman,

All three boys belonged to

three are studying in a Christian

Thirteen members of the Trucks-
ville Free Methodist Sunday School
Staff enjoyed an all-day Workers
Retreat and Planning Session at
the Dallas Camp ground Saturday!
September 9.
Purpose of the meeting was to
study all areas of local Sunday
School work; to plan for progress
in growth; service to the individual
and community, program planning,
evangelism, and service training, to
correlate educational departments |
of the church, and to plan the
year’s educational program.
Present were:

Cooper, Ruth Zeek, Gladys Stull,
Vivian Atkinson, Jean Blaine, Ian-

David H. Shaver
To Enter Ministry
David H. ‘Shaver, a 1946 Dallas
Borough High School graduate, who
has been teaching at Fort Meade,
Florida in the fields of history,
speech, and geography, has decided
to enter the ministry. He is enrolled
at Emory University, Atlanta, Georg-
ia, where he will study to be a
Methodist minister.
Mr. Shaver, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Milford Shaver, Center Hill Road,
was honored by the senior class at
Fort Meade which dedicated to him
the senior class yearbook.

Mrs. Irene K. Jester
Mrs. Irene K. Jester started her
last journey to Clinton, Delaware,
early Tuesday morning, for burial
in the family plot.
Mrs. Jester, 71, died Saturday
night at the home of her sister, Mrs.
Arthur Tremayne of Chase, with
whom she had made her home for
the past thirteen years. Services
were conducted from the Tremayne
home Monday night.
Mrs. Jester retained membership
in her own home church at Ellen-
dale, belonging to Ellendale Meth-
odist WISCS and Ladies’ Bible Class.
She was a former president of the
Ellendale PTA.
Her husband, George, died in
1949.
She leaves two grandchildren,
Mrs. Ellen Housley and Edward
Wilson, of Denton, Md.; three broth-
ers: James Leon Kintz, of Athens;
Jay, Kingston; and Vernon, Eau
Gallie, Florida; a sister, Mrs. Tre-
mayne, of Chase.
