LONG Young Scientists Establish Laboratory (Continued from Page 1 A) search for firms within the entire area, much of it.jn Washington and New York and as 14% north as Hartford, Conn. They found that Wilkes-Barre Scranton Airport fur- nished better air transport for their purposes than Hartford or the Allentown-Bethlehem area, their second choice, Their next con- sideration was proximity to col- leges, availability of sites and living conditions. Wyoming Valley, and especially the Dallas area, pro- vided everything in abundance, and Hoyt Goode found them the ideal site. Dr. Young said residents of the Country Club area will find them to be good neighbours. They are not manufacturers, producing goods although they will use a consider- able quantity of supplies. “It will be hard to distinguish the labora- tory and other buildings from the surrounding homes’, : The laboratory building proper contains reception room, individu- al offices, a large library and con- ference room, several individual laboratories for research and ex- periment and a larger room now equipped with a pilot plant where manufacturing processes can be carried on in small scale before processes of manufacture are turned over to clients for com- mercial application. Eventually, Dr. Young said, two or three or perhaps more labora- tory assistants will be employed as well as a receptionist office man- ager. Most of the research, how- ever, will be conducted by the three members of the firm. Surface Processes Research and Development . Rozelle, a native of West Wyoming, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Rozelle of that community. He graduated from West Wyoming High School and obtained his BS Degree at Wilkes College. Eight fire companies “answered a general alarm Tuesday evening at dusk to the Harold Cornell prop- erty at Meeker, the second time within less than a year that fire had struck. Mr. Cornell was welding in the body of his truck when a spark jumped, and two gas tanks ex- ploded, flames enveloping the truck instantly and spreading to the mear- by garage. Air compressor, tools and equipment were a total loss. Fire was still smouldering Wednes~ day morning in the bottom of the converted potato cellar. _ Lehman and Sweet Valley appar- atus were first on the scene, fol~ lowed closely by equipment from Lake Silkworth, Dallas, Kunkle, Jackson, Lake, and Shavertown. Lehman fire fighters spent the major part of the night at the scene. Lehman residents, seeing the nak- ed flames, thought it was the saw- mill on the Cornell property.
