Joseph Gronski
Is Found Dead
Proprietor Of Grove
Discovered By Friend
Apparently dead since Monday
night, when he put his dog out for
a run, Joseph Gronski, 71, was found
Wednesday morning by a Dallas man
who had called to inquire after his
health.
Knocking .on the door of Mr.
Gronski’s home on the Demunds-
Center Moreland Road Henry Urban
of Maple Drive noted that the door
was locked and that the small dog
appeared ravenous as he begged for
food and water. Mr. Urban could
see something on the pantry floor
by peering through the window.
Feeling that something was amiss,
he got help from a neighbor, and
the two men lifted the door from
its hinges to gain access. 3
Mr. Gronski had been seen Mon-
day afternoon at 4 by Chief Irwin
Coolbaugh. A few days previously,
Mr. Urban had driven him at Dal-
las to get medicine at the drug
store; He had been complaining of
not feeling very =~ well, and had
thought the hot weather was res-
ponsible, increasing the misery of
miner's asthma.
Deputy coroner Edward E. Ed-
wards testified to death.
After the body had been removed,
Mr. Urban found dog food and fed
the famished dog.
Mr. Gronski operated a small grove
at the rear of his home where or-
ganizations held picnics and clam-
bakes. Ha moved to the area many
years ago, after retiring from em-
ployment in the mines, and giving
up the restaurant which he operated
in Kingston.
He was a native of Poland, com-
ing to this country in 1906. He
leaves relatives in Poland, including
4 brother Charles, who is visiting in
this country.
Two sons, Chester and Tosurh Jr.,
live in New Britain, Conn.

To Stage Clothing Sale
As a part of the Migrant Ministry
of Wyoming Valley Council of
Churches, the United Churches of
Lackawanna County and the Tunk-
hannock Ministerium, the Metho-
dist Youth Fellowship of Center
Moreland Methodist Church will
again conduct a used clothing sale
for migrant workers in, the Center
Moreland area. This project, con-
ducted for the first time last year,
proved so helpful that it is to be
renewed this year during the last
two weeks in August.
The young people collect used
clothing suitable for migrant work-
ers and their families, sort it, and
sell it to the workers at a very
small cost. Nominal profits will
be donated to the United Churches
Migrant Ministry. Persons having
used clothing suitable for the pro-
ject may leave it at the Center
Moreland Methodist School, or have
it picked. up by calling the MYF
president, Nancy Boyes, at Center
