The Gilberts had just built a car- port and an extra bedroom on to there home and in some unknown manner the carport caught fire. Flames spread through the ceiling partitions to other parts of the house. Mr. Gilbert, watching T.V., was unaware of the fire until fire- men arrived. The Gilberts returned to Milford on Sunday, leaving their son, Douglas, with Mrs. Billow. The newlyweds were expected to stop off at Milford on their wedding trip but left unaware that the Gil- bert home had been destroyed.
