YMCA Day-Camp Starts Second
Period Monday; Registration Today
Friday marks the end of the first
two-week period, of the Back Moun-
tain YMCA Day-Camp. On Mondays
and Fridays, children have enjoyed
various active, ball and quiet games
and crafts at the Harvey's Lake Rod
and Gun Club and swimming at the
Alderson Methodist Church dock. On
Fridays ,campers enjoy nature games,
lore, crafts and hikes on the Hellers-
perk property near Shrine Acres,
Swimming is supervised by Red
Cross Life; Guards. Both: counselors
hold Junior Life Saving certificates
and the camp director has a Senior
Life Saving certificate as well as
a Water Safety Instructor's certifi-
cate.
Bobby Hewitt, Billy Doma and
David Ratcliffe have become quite

That quiet twinkle might turn into
something pretty disturbing.
As co-chairman of the Back
Mountain Memorial Library Auc-
tion, Dick is getting the feel of the
community. With four school-age
children of their own, he and his |
wife, the former Ruth Groom of |
Poughkeepsie, N.Y. have a real
stake in Dallas District Schools.
Dick serves as chairman of the
Citizens Committee = for Better
Schools, and this coming year he
will be chairman on International
Scholarship program for = Dallas
Rotary Club. When Art; Ross was
Rotary president, Dick was program
chairman.
A 1942 graduate of Cornell Uni-
versity, with a degree in electrical
engineering, Dick has had exper-
ience with the Scranton Electric
Co.; Hudson Coal Co. of Scranton
as assistant electrical engineer,

September of 1942, after he had

fessional Engineer, member of Lu-
zerne County Chapter of Pennsyl-

electrical engineering honor society;
Kappa Tau Chi, administrative en-
gineering; Scabbard and Blade,
military; Red Key, junior honorary,
Cornell; Quill and Dagger, senior
honorary, Cornell.
His church affiliations are with
First Presbyterian of Wilkes-Barre,
where he serves on the Board of
Deacons.
His children are: Donna, 12;
Christine, 9; Charlene, 7, and Dick,
Jrs 6.
Mr. and Mrs. Demmy belong to
a group of young people in the
area, most of them fairly recent
residents, who ‘are vitally interest-
ed in the school and the Library,
and are doing their utmost to pro-
mote better and better schools.
They realize the cultural value
of a library as a focus for a grow-
ing community, and are throwing,
themselves whole-heartedly into
working for the Auction which pro-
vides the funds for its mainten-
ance. +
