She was buried the following Mon- day in Evergreen Cemetery, follow- ‘ing services conducted by former pastor of Idetown Methodist Church Rev. Frank Abbott, assisted by Rev. William Howard at the Bronson Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Bruce, Ellwood and Ronald Spencer; Emory and Cecil Pinder; and Allen Montross. Edmond and Helen Pinder. Her hus- band Clarence died seventeen years ago. Most of her life was spent in Ide- town, where she belonged to Ide- town Methodist Churcch, and its Serving and Waiting Class, of which she was treasurer for many years. In addition to her daughter in Rochester, she is survived by a son Glenn, of Idetown, and a grand- daughter Sharon. Arthur Hoppes, 93, Lies In Loyalville Cemetery Arthur W. Hoppes, 93, Harveys | Lake, was laid to rest in Loyal- ville Cemetery . Wednesday after- nocn, following services conducted by Rev. John Gordon from the Glova Funeral Home. Pallbearers were John Hoyt, (Charles and Joseph Micklo, Ben Rood, George Alles Jr. and Isem Pennington. Mr. Hoppes, one of the oldest residents of Harveys Lake, died Sunday at his home after a long illness. He retired in 1945, after serving as maintenance man at Sterling Farms for twenty - five years. Other employment was for a period of eleven years with the Wales Adding Machine (Co. in Kingston. He was a member of the Alderson Methodist Church. A great lover of music, Mr. Hoppes played the drums for years with the Barnum and the Renard bands at Harveys Lake. His parents were the late Jonas and Rebecca Scott Hoppes. Surviving are his wife, the form- er Florence Smith of Harveys Lake; daughter, Mrs. Harold Scott, Har- veys Lake; brother, William, Loyal- ville; one grandson, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Killed In Crash ALVA B. IDE Alva B. Ide, native of Idetown and long-time resident of Reading, died in a highway accident in Iowa May 19. His body was returned to Reading for burial. Mr. Ide, 51, owner of the Ide Rest Home near Birdsboro, had been on vacation in Hawaii. He and his wife, returning from the Islands, were crossing the country from (California, when a six-car crash near Mount Pleasant, Towa, enlisted his atten- tion. While flagging down traffic, he was run down and killed when a rear-end collision thrust another car at him. Mrs. Ide, still in the family car, was not injured. Two minutes before the crash, a chain reaction caused by a State Policeman stopping a drunken driver on the highway, Mr. Ide had turned to his wife and said, “Well Mother, we've come all this way and we haven't seen an accident.” In the picture, Mr. Ide wears the uniform of the Coast Guard Auxili- ary. He was born in Idetown, son of the late Harry and Lulu Baird Ide. Thirty-five years ago he moved to the Reading area. A brother, Lyn- ford, died at 13. His wife is the former Dorothy Edinger. A stepmother, Mrs. Ruth Ide of Idetown, survives, and two half sisters: Mrs. Doris Schallenberger, New Jersey, and Mrs. Elsie Jean Wagner, Lancaster: a niece and two nephews. Mr. And Mrs. Mainr Lose Nine-Months Old Baby Ronald R. Major, nine-month-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Major, Huntsville, died Tuesday night at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Scranton. Surviving: are also a brother, Larry, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Major, Huntsville. Funeral will be held Friday at 2 from the Bronson Funeral Home, with Rev. Emory Stokes officiating.
