left this week to visit her brother

son, Charleston, West Virginia. Mr,

Mr. and Mrs. Steve Batory, Pine-
crest Avenue, celebrated their 22nd
wedding anniversary with a week
end in New York City.
Dr. Aaron Lisses is attending the
Pennsylvania Optometrists’ meeting
at Bedford Spring, which started
May 21.
Mrs. Robert Kemmerer, Shaver-
town, is convalescing after three
weeks spent at Nesbitt Hospital fol-
lowing a heart attack. The first time
she was ever hospitalized in her 64
years, and she was impressed with
the number of people who cared
enough about her illness to send her
cards and gifts.
Mrs. Jean Moledor, Lake-Lehman
Schools, was one of ten Luzerne
County nurses who attended the an-
nual School Nurse Institute in
Johnstown early this month.
Mr. and Mrs Bruce Nicholson,
Bethlehem and Mr. and Mrs. Paul
Nicholson, Wilkes-Barre, were
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Oswald Grif-
fiths, Demunds Road, over the week-
end.
Cragg Herdman, Beaumont; Mrs.
Harry Doll, Evans Falls, and Mrs,
George Landon, Kunkle, spent the
weekend at Canfield, Ohio, visiting
their sister, Mrs. Charles Sweezy,
Mr. and Mrs. Al Tirpak, newly-
weds, have moved from Hunlock
Creek to Shavertown, R. D. 5.
Mr. and Mrs. John W. Griffiths,
Somerville, N. J., spent the weekend
with Mr. and Mrs, Oswald Griffiths.
Mr .and Mrs. Paul Hilbert and
‘ son, Larry, Bordontown, N. J., visit-
ed at the George Landon home over
the weekend.
George Bronson, Sweet Valley, has
been a patient at Geisinger Hospital,
Danville.
Mr. and Mrs, Albert Ruff, Sr.
Noxen, spent the weekend with Mn,
and Mrs. Albert Ruff, Jr. and
Kathy Lou of Baltimore, Md. They
all enjoyed a trip to Longwood Gar-
dens and the Armed Force Day fes-
tivities at Aberdeen! Proving
Grounds.
Mrs. Byron Creasy has returned
to her home on Pioneer Avenue
after spending the winter at Coral
Gables, Fla, En route home she
stopped off in Philadelphia to
spend Mothers’ - Day with her
daughter, Marjorie.
Mrs. Margaret - Johanson, 203
Carverton Road, Trucksville, has re-
turned to her home after submit-
ting to surgery at Nesbitt Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Rustin and
family have’ moved from Philadel-
phia to 98 E. Center Street, Shaver-
town,
Mr. and Mrs, Ernest Kuchinskas
and family, formerly of Pittsburgh,
have purchased and moved into a
home at Westmoreland Hills. Mr.
Kuchinskas is a retired army of-
ficer.
Mrs, Pearl Heck, Long Island, is
here for the summer, staying with
Mr. and Mrs. Lester Sites, Harveys
Lake.
Mrs. Lester Sites, Harveys Lake,
returned Friday after spending
three weeks with her father Bernard
Gray in Long Island, where he is a
hospital patient.
Mrs. Richard Venn, Meadowcrest,
observed her - birthday on Sunday
with a family dinner. Mrs. Venn
came to this area from Camden,
N. J. last year.
Mrs. Eugene Fiske of King Street,
Dallas, returned Saturday from
Nesbitt Hospital, where she sub-
mitted to the second of two suc-
cessful eye operations for removal
of cataracts.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Scott, Pion-
eer Avenue, Trucksville, are spend-
ing some time ia Virginia and the
Carolinas.
Mrs. William Wright, Sr., Spring
Street, is a patient at Nesbitt Hos-
pital where she was taken by am-
bulance by her son, Bill, and crew
after suffering a heart attack.
University Women
Meet At Country Club
Spring dinner meeting of the
A A. U. W., Wilkes-Barre Branch,
was held last Wednesday evening
at Irem Temple Country Club.
The theme was “Your College
Days”. The many members who
came in costumes that they wore
in college gave a nostalgic atmos-
phere to the evening.
Each decade had a representative
who reported on college life when
she ‘was an undergraduate.
Letters reporting on their college
years were sent by Mrs. J. H. Super
and Mrs. Gilbert Jacobsky, who
were unable to be present, Mem-
bers who gave reports were Elean-
or Ditty, Mary [Glowacki, Mrs.
Thomas Kiley, Mrs. Charles Shafer,
Jane Booth, Mrs. Joseph Skuzunski,
and Mrs. Allen G. Dungan.
Diploma prizes were awarded ‘to
Eleanor Ditty, Mrs. Charles Shafer,
Mary Glowacki, Mrs. Dudley Weiss,
Mrs, Walter Eaton, Mrs. George
Krause, and Iona Brelsford.
Miss Pearl Averett was chairman
of arrangements, with Miss Esther
Saxe and Miss Adeline Burgess
serving on her committee. Program
was planned by Mrs. Harold That-
cher, president, and Mrs. A. G.
Dungan, chairman of Fine Arts.
Also present were Mrs. William
Wentz, Mrs, Richard Cronin, Sara
Francis, Mrs. W. Myers, Emily Do-

Mr. and Mrs. John P. Elenchik,
West Overbrook Avenue, Dallas, an-
nounce the approaching marriage of’
their daughter, Marian Theresa, to
John Edward Xern, son of Mrs.
Marion A. Kern, Memorial Highway,
Harveys Lake, and the late Edwin
H. Kern,
The wedding will be solemnized
on Saturday, June 10, at 10 o'clock
at Gate of Heaven Church. Rev.
Francis A. Kane, pastor, will per-
form the ceremony and celebrate
the Nuptial Mass.

Mr. and Mrs. John F. Sheehan,
Huntsville Road, will celebrate their
twenty-fifth wedding anniversary on
Saturday, May 27.
Mrs. Sheehan is the former Verna
Cave, daughter of the late Mr, and
Mrs. Nicholas (Cave, Huntsville
Road. Mr, Sheehan is son of Mrs.
John F. Sheehan, Hotel Sterling, and
the late John F. Sheehan. The
couple was married by the Rev.
Gardner Day in St. Stephen’s Epis-
copal Church. Attendants were
Grace Cave, sister of the bride, and
Mr. and Mrs. John F. Sheehan
To Celebrate 25th Anniversary
George Walker. They started house-
keeping in the house they now
occupy.
There are two sons, John, student
at Wilkes College, and Lynn, mem-
ber of the Freshman Class at Dick-
inson. All the Sheehans are active
members of Prince of Peace
Church. Mrs. Sheehan is a trained
nurse, on general duty at General
Hospital. Mr. Sheehan is employed
by the Bell Telephone Company in
Wilkes-Barre,

Hostess At Luncheon
Mrs. Robert Laux, Midland Drive
Dallas, entertained at a buffet
luncheon last Wednesday honoring
Marion Elenchik, June bride elect.
The party table was attractive
with. center piece of pink and
white spring flowers, tall white tap-
ers and miniature bride and groom.

Mr. and Mrs. Adrian DeMarco,
Sutton Road, Trucksville, have an~
nounced the birth of a seven pound,
thirteen ounce baby girl, Clare
Marie at Mercy Hospital on April
28. They have six other children,
Adrian, Jr., aged eight, Mary Ann,
seven, John, six, Helen, four Paul,
three, and Gerard, two.
Mrs, DeMarco is the former Clare
Baur of Shavertown. Mr. DeMarco
is employed by College Misericordia.
Clare Marie was christened at St.
Therese’s Church on Sunday, May 7.
Her godparents were cousins, Mr.
and Mrs. Joseph Dohman, of Wilkes~
Barre.
Michael James Baur
Mr. and Mrs. John W. Baur, Eas-
ton, have announced the birth of a
seven pound, five ounce baby boy,
Michael James, on April 25. This
is their first child. /
Mrs. Baur is the former Joan
Allen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Harry Allen, Jr. of Harveys Lake.
Mr. Baur is son of Mr. and Mrs. John
Baur, Shaver Avenue, Shavertown.
Kimberly Ann Lemak
Mr, and Mrs. Paul J. Lemak,
former Dallas reseidents, now of
Camp Hill, have announced the
birth of a baby girl, Kimberly Ann,
at Polyclinic Hospital on May 9.

Camp Hill.
Plan Summer Dance
Plans are under way for the an-
nual summer dance of Dallas Sen-
ior Woman's Club.
At a recent meeting of the Gen-
eral Committee at the home of the
dance chairman, Mrs. John Rogers,
the date was set for July 15 at the
Irem Country Club pavilion.
Present were Mrs. Grace Mc-
Cutcheon, co-chairman in charge of
decorations; assisted by Mrs. Wil-
liam Wright; reservations, Mrs. Wal-

Married Fourteen Years
Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Brown,
Chase Road, Shavertown, will ob-
serve their fourteenth wedding an-
niversary on Friday, May 26. The
couple was married by the Rev.
William Hopkins in Maryland.
Mrs. Brown is the former Alma
Gilbert, daughter of Herbert Gil-
bert of Luzerne, She is a licensed
practical nurse. Mr. Brown is em-
ployed by Air Products.
There are five children: Linda,
thirteen; Shirley, twelve; Richard,
three; Gary, two; Leslie, two
months.
Debbie Boston Is
Five On May 29
Deborah J. Boston, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Theodore J. Boston,
A. and B. Trailer Court, Tonawanda,
N. Y., is celebrating her fifth birth-
day anniversary on May 29. Her
parents celebrated their ninth wed-
ding anniversary on May 8.
Debbie is now practicing for her
tap dancing recital being held on
June 25.
Mrs. Boston formerly lived and
worked in Dallas. Mr, Boston, form-
erly of Loyalville, is employed as
machinist at the J. and A. Keller
Machine Company at Tonawanda.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lavelle of Dal-
las are Debbie’s godparents.

Mr. and Mrs, Peter J. Tonte,
Plainfield, N. J. have announced
the birth of a daughter, Jennine
Marie, five pounds, fifteen ounces,
at Nesbitt Hospital on May 3. They
have a little boy, Frederick Peter,
aged two.
Mrs. Tonte is daughter of Mr. and
Mrs, Frederick Schutz, Harris Hill
Road, Trucksville, She and Freddie
are staying with her parents. Mr.
Tonte 'is employed at the Lyons
Hospital in New Jersey.
Homemakers Day
Homemaker’s Day was recently
held at Briggsville with Mrs. Ruth
Darbie in charge of the program.
Morning speakers were E. V. Chad-
wick, Luzerne County Agent, and
Ann Nygaard, assistant home eco-
nomics leader, In the afternoon,
Mrs. Harry Moran spoke on “Looking
Eleven Years Younger.” Attending
were: Marie Wolfe, Letha Wolfe,
Mae King, Edna Rebennack and
Elizabeth Ide.

Lace Makers Celebrate
In New York City
Branch 23, Amalgamated Lace of
America, journeyed to New York
City for a weekend to celebrate the
twenty-fifth anniversary of Native

Will Hold A Reunion
Former teachers and pupils of the
old Bloomingdale one-room school
house at Bloomingdale will hold
a reunion on Saturday at Blooming-
dale Grange Hall. Everybody is
