Claudia Laux, sophomore at Penn-
sylvania State University, has been

Mrs. Gilbert H. Ide, of R. D. #4,

ville Methodist Church. Suzan Dodd,

machine operator by Natona Mill,

nuptial party given by the Guild of
Immanuel Baptist Church, Edwards-

Mrs. Jennie Boic
Mrs. Jennie Boice, Sugar Hollow,
mother of Mrs. Glen Zenger, Eaton-
ville was guest of honor.at a birth-
day dinner held at the Zenger home
Wednesday March 1. She was
eighty nine years old. All but one
of her ten childrén were present.
The party table was attractive
with centerpiece of red roses and
beautifully decorated cake made by
Mrs. Zenger.

Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Stroud,
Sweet, Valley, R. D. 1, will observe
their fiftieth wedding anniversary
Sunday, March 19, with open house
for friends and relatives. No invi-
tations have been issued.
Mrs. Stroud is the former Anna
Wilkinson of Bloomingdale. Mr.
Stroud is son of the late Anna and
Frank Stroud of Dallas. The couple
was married at Reyburn, March 17,
1911, by the Rev. Bruce Belles and
went to house keeping in the house
they now occupy at Sweet Valley.
After serving in the Luzerne County
Court House for twenty-nine years,
Mr. Stroud developed his apple or-
chards and now markets some of the
finest apples and cider in the state.

To Celebrate 50th Anniversary
There are seven children: Mrs.
Robert Wilson, Oak Hill, Dallas; Mrs.
Edmund Franklin, Shickshinny, R.D.
3; Mrs. Malcolm Kitchen, Pioneer
Avenue, Shavertown; Robert, Berk-
ley, Mich.; Clifford, Gilbert, Pa.;
Richard and Fred, Sweet Valley; also
twenty grandchildren.
Both the Strouds are members of
Maple Grove Church and staunchly
support its activities. In addition to
trimming, spraying, picking, and
pressing into cider their apples, they
enjoy planting a small vegetable |
garden, freezing ‘and preserving
home berries and setting out a few
annuals. “Our hobby,” says Mr.
Stroud,” is our grandsons—and finer
kids you won't find anywhere!”
