Mrs. Edward Speary and son,
Teddy, spent a few days last week
in Mansfield with her parents Mr.
and Mrs. Moore.
The Roda family that occupied the
Peterson. home have moved to
Plymouth,

ter, Mrs. Bob Lameraux, spent last
weekend in District Heights, Md.
They visited Mrs. Maranski’s daugh-
ter and family, Capt and Mrs. George
Marshalek. Little Mary Ann Mar-
shalek celebrated her 4th birthday.
Fred and Billy Stroud, who are
attending school in Scranton, spent
the weekend at home with their
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Stroud.

Mrs. Lizie Moore is confined to her
bed. She is living with her son and
ddughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil
Moore. Her friends and neighbors
wish her a speedy recovery.
Cub Scouts of Pack 444, Sweet
Valley, held their Blue and Gold
banquet Friday, February 24, at the
Fire Hall. This was held in honor
lof the 51st anniversary of Boy Scouts
of America. Approximately 75 people
attended. | Robert Evans, * district
Council leader was on hand to pre-
sent the pack with the Presidental
Banner. Color slides were shown by
Jim Yoder, The dinner and meet-
ing was closed by the Cubmaster

Scouts with awards that they had

Mr.. and Mrs. Garvin Smith cele-
brated their 19th wedding anniver-
sary last Tuesday. They have a.son,
Gary, student at Dallas School.
The movie “The Sundowners,”
recently shown in Wilkes-Barre and
Radio Station WILK in advertising,
had a contest to write “Why I would
like to visit Australia.”
I entered this contest, and al-
though I didn’t win the first prize,
which was a trip for two to Aus-
tralia, 1 was recognized and will
receive a Warner Brothers’ Album
as a prize.
Mrs. Garvin Smith, Mrs. Lee
Zimmerman, - and Mrs. Harvey
Kitchen called on Mrs. Goldie Kitch-
en at Idetown on Friday and helped
her «celebrate her 84th birthday.
Mrs. Kitchen is able to get around,
by using a walker, since she broke
her hip. |
Tuesday evening women from the
Alderson-Noxen W. S. C. S. met at
the Alderson Church for a study
course on “One World, One Mis-
sion,” taught by Mrs. Raymond Gar-
inger. There were seven Kunkle
women, three Noxen, and eleven
Alderson women present. The group
will meet each Tuesday evening at
7:30 for four weeks.

tended the 4th Quarterly Conference
at Noxen Church on Thursday eve-
ning: Rev. and Mrs. John Gordon,.

William Kelley, Mrs. Helen Hart-

Humphrey, and Mrs. Albert Armi-
tage. - Rev. Leon Bouton, Wilkes-
Barre District Superintendent pre-
sided, and later showed beautiful
slides of many local churches.
Eleanor Humphrey is secretary of
the - Alderson-Noxen Circuit Quar-
terly Conference.
The Boy Scouts Troop 331 of
Harveys Lake held awards night
on March 7, at 8 p. m. at Lake-
Noxen School,
Eleven boys received 50th an-
niversary awards. Boys also re-
ceived Tenderfoot, 2nd Class and |,
1st Class pins, and the mothers
réceived miniature pins to match.
American Legion Post 967 and the
Auxiliary presented the boys with
the American Flag. :
