of the nights for our band concert.
The dates are now April 28 and 29.
Keep these in mind because you will

Mr. Milaskaus has announced that
there is a need for bass horn players.
Any youngster from fourth grade up
may join the band, although you
cannot enter Senior Band until you
are in seventh grade and have met
oli of the requirements. Contact

Last Monday night thirty-five of
our band received sweaters. Each
parent presented the sweater to his
or her son or daughter.
Following this refreshments were
served and a picture taken of these

America, the Future Farmers of
America and the Future Teachers of
America will hold a farmer dance.
Red Jones will be caller.
The money will be divided equally
among the three organizations to
send their representatives to the
state conventions.

student teaching in our school are
Miss Elizabeth Galvin is a social
studies major. She is
history and guidance during her stay
with us. She belongs to the P. S.
E. A., Music and the Literary Clubs.
The Student Council is also one of
her activities. She likes to bowl
and read:for entertainment.
Upon graduation she would like to
teach in New Jersey where she
lives.

Miss Patricia Sladish is from New
York and a music major. She plays
the trumpet and played with Steg-
maier Band at one time. Miss
Sladish is helping all the music
teachers and teaches the music
appreciation classes. She belongs to
the Music. and Glee Clubs along |
with P. S. E. A.
WRESTLERS
Congratulations to the wrestling
squad for its victory over Meyers
on Saturday night. The score was
31 to 160 The entire team showed
good sportsmanship. This win put
us in second place tied with Forty
Fort.
The four Seniors who wrestled
their last league meet all won. They
are Bob McDaniels, Jack Donnelly,
Pete Rittenhouse and Alex Wilson.
Bob, Jack, Pete are from Lehman
Building and Alex is from the Lake. |

All four are lettermen. Bob and
Alex are taking the Academic
Course. Pete is taking Automobile
Mechanics and Jack is taking Draft-
ing.
Jack is also to be honored for
being undefeated in the 145-pound
weight class for this entire season.
The district meets start tomorrow
at 7 p. m. at Wilkes College. Eleven
schools will be represented with,
twelve meets from each school. We
hope our boys do well.
ASSEMBLY
Mr. Sidler and the F. F. A. ‘boys
put on a very interesting assembly
on Friday. John Klemunes, presi-
dent, conducted the program. The
officers went through the rituals of
opening ceremonies "as they do at
each regular meeting. Following
each told a little about his station
and the symbol that represents it.
The assémbly concluded with Mr.
Marchakitus presenting the letter-
men with their Senior Sweaters.

traveled to New York City to see a

bers visited the Pierpont Morgan

On March 6, in Walsh Memorial
Auditorium, Donald McDonald, edi-
tor and journalist, will discuss
modern entertainment influence on
American life. Mr. McDonald is the
fourth = speaker in Misericordia’s
series of cultural lectures. He was
graduated from Marquette Univer=
sity in Wisconsin with a master’s
degree in journalism and now edits
“The Marquette University Maga-
zine.” Mr. McDonald also contri-

Recruiters from the three
branches of the Armed Forces vis-
ited. our high school last week to
speak to any boys interested in
learning about the opportunities and |
requirements necessary for joining
any branch of the service. Special
sessions for each branch of the serv-
ice were held at time intervals to
give the boys an opportunity to
attend the sessions in which they
were interested. Any students who
were of age were eligible to attend
these sessions. This was an oppor-
tunity of value for all who were
interested. These Recruiters were:

Army—Sgt. Becky; Air Force—Sgt.

Rotary Exchange Students
Some of the girls have al-
ready been selected as exchange
students. to. study. abroad.
They are Lynne Jordan and
Annabelle Ambrese, whe have
been selected to go to Holland;
and Mary Alice Knecht,. who
has been selected to go to
Sweden. This is an exceptional

know from past performances
that they will do credit to our

The girls’ Tri-Hi-Y Club held a
meeting, Wednesday the 22nd at the
YMCA. A speaker, Mr. Sieber from
the State Correctional Institution at
Dallas, spoke to the members on the
rules and regulations of the Institu-
tion.

points and Brace and Kaleta each
contributed ten points to the win-
ning cause. Harris was high for |
the Royal Knights with 14 points.

collected 14, 12 and 10 to lead the |
| 89'ers onslaught. Glahn led the |
Confederates with 16 points. Bartoo
had 12 points for the losers.
The Spartans; with two wins and |

for second with one win and one loss |
are the Royal Knights and the 69ers. |
The Confederates are last with no

Coolbaugh has taken over the |
scoring lead in the League with a
total of 31 points. Other leaders
are Glahn and Dymond with 22
points, Harris and Dickson with 21 |
points and Bartoo with 20 points.

Herd Testing Being Done
Pennsylvania Department of Agri-
culture. is making a farm-by-farm
survey of livestock herds. Luzerne
County is due for recertification as
brucellosis and tuberculosis-free this
year. Animals are being tested for
both diseases at one ‘time. No
action will be taken against farmers
whose herds have not: been tested,
but all animals will be checked.
