Owens, Harris Hill Road, will be conducted this afternoon at 1 from the Hugh B. Hughes Funeral Home in Forty Fort, Rev. Robert Germond officiat- ing. Burial will be in Mt. Green- wood Cemetery. Mr. Owens, 75, died early Tuesday morning at Nesbitt Hospital, where he had been admitted eight days earlier. He had been ill for a year. Up until June he had retained his position as financial secretary of Trucksville Methodist Church, where he served on the official board and was for a number of years superin- tendent of the Sunday School. Five years ago he retired from Glen Alden Coal Company, where he had been employed as a mining engineer since a lad of eighteen, newly arrived from his native Potts- ville. Drawing of maps and diagrams trained his eye and hand ‘to make accurate designs, and during the war he was much in demand for lettering | of church honor rolls. After retirement, he enjoyed gardening, and kept up with his art work. He had lived in Trucksville for 37 years, moving here from Kings- ton. His parents were the late John and Emma Heffner Owens. Surviving are his widow, the former Beth James of Wilkes-Barre; a daughter, Mrs. Robert S. Stewart, Cincinnati, Ohio; a son, John, assis- tant cashier, First National Bank, Wilkes-Barre, at home; a brother, Arthur, Lancaster; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Heitzer, Pottsville, and Mrs. Elizabeth Berger, Cressona; two grandchildren.
