Race Relations Sunday will be
observed at Shavertown Methodist
Church on Sunday with Dr. Dennis
R. Fletcher special guest speaker. Dr.
Fletcher is a mative of Virginia,
studied at Lincoln University, Penn-
sylvania; the University of Pennsyl-
vania; with special work at Boston
University School of Theology and
| Garrett Biblical Institute. For thir-
teen years he served as pastor in
Philadelphia and Maryland.
He has been with the Division of
National Missions for the past four-
teen years. Nine of these years he
served in the Department of Finance
and Field Service as a fund raiser
and counselor for churches planning
to build. For the last five years he
| has been Director in the Division of
National Missions in the Section of
Church Extension in Philadelphia.
Dr. Fletcher will speak at 9:45
a. m. to the Combined Adult Classes
in the Social Rooms on the Race
Problem, and at the regular Morning
Worship Service at 11 a. m.

Missionary Board of Free Methodist
Church, will be guest speaker at:
the Bowmans Creek Free Methodist
Church, Friday at 7:30 p. m.
The four Free Methodist Churches
in this area are joining for this mis-
sionary rally. Following the, rally,
Bowmans-Creek Church will be host
for a fellowship time in the first
floor of the church.

Armstrong arranged for this rally.
.In February, 1960, Crusade Direc-
tor Cutler was evangelist for a three
week city-wide crusade held in
Butuan - City, Philippines. Nearly
20,000 heard the gospel in the public |
meetings. |
From March 12 to April 2 Mr. Cut-
ler will be engaged as evangelist for
the Mexico Crusade to. be conducted
in the university city of Hermosillo,
Soncra. For March 19 to 26 a large
amphitheater has been secured in
which all evangelical churches of the
city will cooporate. March 26 to
conducted in the new Hermosillo
Free Methodist Church now being’
built, aleng with construction of a
pastor's residence and a student
hostel for young people who come to
the city to study in the University of
Sonora. The public is invited to
hear Mr. Cutler.
Services Yesterday For
Mrs. Helen P. Warden
Mrs. Helen P. Warden, Mount
Airy Road, Shavertown, was -re-
leased after a long illness Saturday
morning, dying at General Hospital
where she had been admitted two
months earlier, Services were con-
ducted yesterday by Rev. William
McClelland, rector’ of Prince: of
Peace Episcopal Church, from Disque
Funeral’ home; with interment. in
Wardan cemetery.
Mrs. Warden, 69; had been sub-
ject, to a heart ailment for many
years. Since her ihusband’s death
three years» ago, she had failed in
health, but ‘was able to keep up
with her ‘simple housework. An
intercom between her home and
that of her son Claude next door,
kept the family in touch.
She was born in Cochecton, N.Y.,
daughter of the late Jacob and Caro-
line. Hoezle Porr, and taught school
in that area for.a time after gradu-
ating from local schools. Upon mar-
riage to Ray Warden, she moved to
| Pennsylvania. For 36 years the
family lived in ‘Shavertown. Mr.
| Warden taught mathematics at the
| GAR high school. Mrs: Warden was
| much interested in chemistry, study-
{ing it by correspondence, and main-
taining a laboratory in her héme.
She was also interested in painting.
She belonged to Shavertown
Methodist Church and the WCTU.
| Surviving are three children: Mrs.
D. E. Hardenbergh, State College;
Mrs. Mae Johns, Laramie, Wyoming;
| and Claude, Shavertown; two sisters:
Mrs. Walter Howell, Binghamton,
N.Y.; Mrs. Roland Brown, Deposit,
N.Y.; and seven grandchildren.

postponed to Saturday night, Feb-
ruary 38.

Noxen Native Suffers
Fatal Heart Attack
Floyd Scouten, native and former
resident of Noxen, will be buried
this afternoon in Orcutt Cemetery.
Rev. John Gordon, pastor of the
Alderson-Noxen Methodist charge,
will conduct services at 2 from the
Nulton Funeral Home.
Mr. Scouten, 59, suffered a fatal
heart attack on Sunday at his home
Until ten years ago, Mr. Scouten
lived in Noxen, where he had his
own plastering business. He had al-
so been employed at the Noxen Tan-
nery.
His parents were the late Frank
and Bertha Carpenter Scouten. Crip-
pled by an accident in his childhood
which resulted in loss of one leg, he
fishing enjoyed , by most Noxen
boys. He was educated in the Noxen
school.
Surviving are two children: Rich-
ard, Penndel; and Mrs. Michael
Marks, California; sisters: Mrs. Thel-
ma Ross, Beaumont; Mrs. Reese and
Mrs. /Sylvia Schappert, Noxen; Mrs.
Mildred Weber, Belleville, N.J., and
Mrs. Merle Ritchie, Pompano Beach,
Florida; Brothers, Granville and
Guy,, Harveys Lake; Welford, Nox-
en; Carl Levittown; and Charles;
Newark, N. J.
